To craft planks, you need to chop down trees with your Ax. Cutting down wooden logs gives you four planks. You can use either an axe, saw, or grindstone to remove logs, but it is preferred to utilize the axe. Cutting logs can cause wear and tear on your equipment, so you should choose equipment that requires less maintenance. The Fireman’s Ax or Splitting Ax are two early game axes you can find. You can also use a hacksaw, but they work better if you find lumber piles.
Another way to gather planks is to find lumber piles. You can spot lumber piles all across the overworld, but be careful of other enemies lurking near them.
