While protecting the president in your shelter, you will encounter Jacob and Taylor who stumble in. You will also notice that your gun gets automatically drawn towards them and the president urges you to kill the intruders. The truth is that Jacob and Taylor have stumbled in by accident and don’t mean any harm. If you ignore the president and lower your weapon, you can listen to what they have to say. Eventually they will leave you alone, but that won’t be the end of your interaction. You will meet them several times throughout the game later on, and sometimes they have some information to share with you. They will remain friendly since you spared their lives.
If you instead choose to outright kill them, you can check their bodies and get some cash and a shotgun. There are no repercussions while making any of the choices, and it will not affect the ending of the game.
