The Hogwarts Legacy demo did show a snippet of the character swimming, and it is also shown that there is an option to swim faster as well. So yes, you can swim in the water bodies around the wizarding world. This is a great way to find additional resources, but there is one drawback. You cannot dive underwater to explore more, and you can only explore the surface of the water and back. It is unclear if the diving mechanic will be implemented once the game is released, or if there will be one in later updates.
It is also unknown if swimming will take up some stamina, or if will there be a separate bar while on the water’s surface. But one thing is for certain, it is that you can also encounter enemies on water. You can also spot any water body that you can use for swimming on your map, and you can check them out to get rare plants and resources.
