Baloro’s Weapon is a side quest in Gothic 1 Remake that rewards you with the powerful Stonecrusher after completing a seemingly simple errand. This guide explains how to start the quest, collect every required item, steal the grapes from the Water Mages, and defeat Baloro to claim your reward and additional loot.
How to Start the Quest
The Baloro’s Weapon update is a side quest which helps you upgrade your weapon. You’ll need to start by going to the New Mine and speak with Baloro. Engage in conversation with him and he’ll tell you how he has a weapon that even Innos would kneel before. But here’s the catch, he’ll ask for a favor from you which you’ll need to complete.
He will list you the items that he needs which include: five apples, two bottles of rice schnapps, five bottles of beer, three loafs of bread, two pieces of cheese, and two straws of grapes.
How to Gather the Required Ingredients
Except for the two straws of grapes, everything else can be bought from merchants. So your best bet is to go to Mordrag in the market place and buy all the ingredients from him. Once you’ve bought everything from Mordrag, you’ll need to get the grapes from the Water Maged shelter.
Getting the Grapes
You’ll be able to find the Grapes for Baloro by visiting the Water Mages at night and stealing the grapes from them. You’ll need to start by going a little towards the southwest of New Camp.
Once you’ve reached the marked location, you’ll find that there are two Mercenary guards at the castle’s entrance. You don’t need to worry about them though as you’ll find them fast asleep. Go inside, take the path on the left, and go upstairs to the Water Mages dining room. Be careful when entering though, as there might be someone in the room.
If you happen to find someone, the best option for you is to wait outside by hiding behind the door until the room is completely empty. After everything is clear, enter the room, and you’ll find a huge circular dining table with chairs lined up around it. The table is where you’ll find the two straws of Grapes along with other worthy items like the Goblet.
Go Back to Baloro with the Ingredients
Once you take all the ingredients back to Baloro and ask him for the weapon in exchange, he’ll tell you that he was fooling around with you. You both will get into a heated debate which will eventually lead to a fight. You’ll need to defeat Baloro and get the Stonecrusher from him. There are other items like Amphora, Extract of Healing, and 170 Experience that you’ll be able to get from him.
