When you talk to Mol in Dragon’s Lair in the Druids’ Grove, she will tell you about the Druid’s ritual with the Sacred Idol of Silvanus. You can then intimidate or deceive the Druids to get past them. After that, talk to Mol, and you can either hand over the idol or keep it to yourself. Keeping it won’t close the quest, so give it to Mol to receive the protection ring in return.
