How to Start Soft Step Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3
To start the trail, make your way through the bulky doors at X: -767 and Y: -757. You can get to this point after placing the Umbral Gem and the Traversal Gem at the gauntlet’s upper level. There is a Sacrificial Bowl inside the room and you or a party member can drop some blood to start the trial.
It is best to let Shadowheart handle this, but make sure to equip the Spear of Night on her before she does the blood sacrifice. Also, it is best to leave the rest of the party members behind and only take Shadowheart, since she was the one who did the blood sacrifice and she also has the skill Pass Without Trace. This will make it easier for you to pass through the shadows using stealth.
How to Complete Soft Step Trail in Baldur’s Gate 3
Before you begin, cast the spell for invisibility, or if you wish to use potions you can use that too. Pass through any of the archways and avoid the two wandering shadows. They roam at random, so you have to stay vigilant while passing through. Your aim is to pick up the Umbral Gem at X: -824 and Y: -754.
Before that, you need to find a button around the walls to access the next area. Press the button and go through the newly opened area to find a gate. Lockpick the gate to get the Umbral Gem and teleport back to the start of the trail. This will complete the trail and you can continue on with the rest of the quest.
