The wasteland is a place where survival depends on the weapons you have in Arc Raiders, and for crafting or upgrading, you’ll need the right tools. One of the most essential materials in the early game is the Rusted Tool, which is necessary to upgrade your Gunsmith bench for new weapon blueprints.
Despite how common it sounds, Rusted Tools can actually be tough to find. The following is a full guide on where to get them quickly and safely.

What Rusted Tools Are Used For
Rusted Tools are a Mechanical/Industrial-tier material that is primarily used to upgrade the Gunsmith in the Workshop tab. Upgrading your gunsmith will unlock higher-tiered blueprints that you can use to craft advanced weapons and attachments.
You can also recycle them for basic components, but it is better to save them for crafting and upgrades, especially at the beginning of the game.

Best Rusted Tool Farming Locations
Rusted Tools can be found in any Mechanical or Industrial area-look for the wrench icon on your map. They spawn in breachable containers, lockers, and storage bins, and have a small chance to spawn as open-world loot.
1. Water Treatment – Dam Battlegrounds
- One of the best and most consistent places to find Rusted Tools.
- The area is full of Industrial loot containers and breachable boxes.
- Check the areas around the generator units and the maintenance sheds, mainly because the best loot tends to spawn in those places.
Watch out for ARC patrols in the outer yard.

2. Vehicle Maintenance – Spaceport
Another great farming spot, due to its Mechanical tag and so many vehicles lying around.
- Many maintenance bay storage crates and breachable lockers drop Rusted Tools.
- The area is semi-contested with manageable enemy density.
- Other places where rusted tools can be dropped
Secondary areas to attempt if the above spots are too hot or looted already:
- Power Generation Complex (Dam Battlegrounds) – Has Industrial crates that can drop Rusted Tools.
- Container Storage (Spaceport) – Moderate drop rate, good for multi-material farming runs.
- Warehouse Complex (Spaceport) – Break into every storage locker you come across for a good chance at stumbling upon tools.
(Avoid The Blue Gate and Buried City maps. Blue Gate is a known PvP hotbed filled with high-level hostility, while Buried City doesn’t really feature strong Mechanical or Industrial loot zones, which means Rusted Tools are almost absent there.)
