Chapter 20, “Resurrection,” in DOOM: The Dark Ages isn’t just the end of your hell-slaying journey, but it’s also your final chance to interact with one of the game’s more mysterious collectable systems: the Wolf Statues. These eerie, radiant wolf skulls have been deposited somewhere in a couple of previous chapters, generally buried in the open or stuck behind some artistic level design.

There are four statues in Resurrection total, and destroying all four is the key to earning an additional Wraithstone, a valuable collectable to spend on enhancing your most highly ranked equipment. Whether you’re a completionist hoping for that 100%, or just after that gold weapon skin you receive with mastery, here is everything you need to know about locating and destroying all four Wolf Statues in Resurrection.

How Do Wolf Statues Work?

Wolf Statues are special collectables in some chapters of DOOMS: The Dark Ages. They’re metal statues of snarling wolf heads, often found on ledges, beneath bridges, or behind cultist altars. They’re faintly glowing, so they’re both recognisable in the hellish landscape and detectable in dimly lit areas.

To shatter a Wolf Statue, wear your Shield Saw (the upgraded throwaway shield). Shoot and toss it straight at the statue, and the statue will shatter on impact, releasing a small burst of blue energy.

After all four statues in Resurrection are shattered, you’ll disable a glowing purple forcefield surrounding a Wraithstone, allowing you to grab it and unlock an elite-level weapon upgrade. These statues do not show up on your map or compass. You’ll need to search around a bit or follow this guide closely to locate them all.

Location of Wolf Statues in Resurrection

There are four statues in total in Resurrection, all relatively near each other but hidden across various layers of the level’s vertical and branching composition.

First Statue Location

You should start in the spectral statue room, which contains four glowing statues and a forcefield-shielded Wraithstone in the middle.

Turn to face the Wraithstone. Now, exit the room to your right (from the Wraithstone’s viewpoint). As you exit, stay close to the left-hand wall as you make your way down the narrow path. You’ll find a group of demons—dispatch them.

Look up at the cliffs above you. The first Wolf Statue rests on a ledge directly above where you’re about to battle the enemies. Use a nearby booster pad or climbable ledge if needed to get a clean line of sight, then throw your Shield Saw to destroy it.

Second Statue Location

From the location of the first statue, turn around and face back toward the spectral statue room. Look to your left for a small descending path that leads underneath a large wooden bridge.

Proceed downhill, avoid a pair of sneaking imps, and move into the covered space under the bridge. The second statue has been pushed against the wall and blocked partially by wreckage. Slow down and get your target aligned—this one is easy to overlook with low visibility.

Third Statue Location

Jump onto the wooden bridge you came across. As soon as you stand on the bridge, turn left (in the opposite direction that you just travelled). You will see a great big stone pillar sticking up out of the ground.

The third statue is at the base of this pillar, sitting in a corner. You can break it from the bridge itself with a good Shield Saw throw. No need to drop down.

Fourth Statue Location

Return to the spectral statue room again and stand before the Wraithstone. This time, exit the room to your left. The instant you exit, turn right, and there is a small ritual area, a cultist circle with demonic idols chanting for a glowing altar.

Behind this eerie ritual, pressed against a rocky outcropping, is the fourth and final Wolf Statue. Drive off the cultists here. Not only will this clear your path to the statue, but it’s necessary in order to complete the “Extreme Prejudice” chapter challenge.

Reward for Wolf Statues in Resurrection

Destroy all four statues in this chapter of DOOMS: The Dark Ages and go back to the spectral statue room. The forcefield guarding the Wraithstone in the centre will now be destroyed. Go up to and collect your reward!

Wraithstones are likely the most essential upgrade items in the game. This one in particular lets you unlock the final tier upgrade on any of your base weapons. It is also required for the development towards the challenge of weapon mastery (needed in order to earn gold skins) and enhancing your fighting prowess throughout the final chapters.
