You can spot an ancient wonder on the map as you keep expanding your cities. Before you can claim it for your own, you need to clear it of enemies. Several enemies are lurking in and around the wonder, so you need to take your Hero and troops and defeat whatever is inside.
Once the area is clear, you have to place an outpost close to the wonder and build a work camp to claim it. You can create a new outpost using your Hero, or level up an existing city outpost to get more range. Working with an existing city can take a while, as you need to increase the population to increase the range and expand to the Ancient Wonder. It is best to build a fresh outpost, then expand your existing city till you can get the Ancient Wonder.
To know whether the cleared Ancient Wonder belongs to you, you will notice a red border around it if it hasn’t been claimed yet. That means that the wonder has been cleared and you can still own it, but it does not border any of your nearby cities.
