Be prepared to chase after magical dust and fix a barrel-flipping puzzle for the “A Ship of Gold” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The quest follows on from previous storylines and sets the stage for even greater revelations, including some highly nostalgic characters.
How to Start the Quest?

Before you can get your hands on this treasure-hunting game, you will need to finish the “Shadows on the Wall” quest and open up The Forgotten. After that is done, go through the just-opened gate and ascend to a platform where you will see some barrels and a glowing stone close to the edge.
Speak with The Forgotten, who provides you the cryptic (yet magical) directive to “find a way forward.” The source of the glow is the key—destroy it to release a Pixie Dust Orb and retrieve the Rope Winch resting behind it.
Chasing the Pixie Dust Orb

The Forgotten leaves a pretty substantial clue: Pixie Dust has the power to float things. But first, you’ll need some more of it. Go back to the Skull Rock entrance and find the Pixie Dust Orb that’s glowing. Of course, it flies away, floating just beyond a locked gate.
There’s a location to the left of the gate where you can position the Rope Winch that you previously found. This clears the path. Now follow the orb within and take the Pixie Dust it leaves behind as it zooms around. You’ll have to smash some rocks in order to keep pace, but eventually you’ll gather enough dust and catch the orb.
Now that’s accomplished, let’s go do something awesome—get the pirate ship airborne.
Getting the Pirate Ship Airborne

Travel to the pirate ship off Skull Rock and talk to it in order to dump the accumulated Pixie Dust into it. After the dust works its magic, the ship takes flight, creating an air bridge to the other side.
Climb back up to where The Forgotten and the mysterious shadow are waiting.
Talk to them to get your next challenge: a puzzle involving barrels and symbols.
Solving the Skull Rock Barrel Puzzle

The barrel puzzle at Skull Rock is a matching game. On each side of the room, you’ll see barrels with different symbols. Your goal is to rotate the barrels to match the correct pairs across from each other.
Here’s a quick walkthrough if you’re not in the mood to experiment:
- First pair:
- Rotate the Bell barrel twice.
- Rotate the Pixie barrel four times.
- Second pair:
- Rotate the Shadow barrel four times.
- Rotate the Sewing Needle barrel twice.
- Third pair:
- Rotate the Clock barrel four times.
- Rotate the Hook barrel twice.
Once everything lines up, a gold key will appear. Use it to unlock the ship and head inside the Captain’s Cabin.
In the cabin, there is another Rope Winch. Take that and put it in the vacant winch slot beside the last closed gate. Open up that gate to complete the quest.
And that’s it, “A Ship of Gold” is finished—and the next instalment, “The Music’s on the Walls,” will get underway right away.
