In Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, the quest “A Devil in the Garden” sends players from the golden bows of the garden and through to the Temple of Life to find out what’s happening with the spreading corruption. This guide is a complete walkthrough of the quest which explains where to go, how to remove the bramble, and defeat the Beast of Thorn.
Travel South Toward Lycander
Once you finish up the “Mother’s Guidance” quest, you will be able to participate in the next quest called “A Devil in the Garden.” To start, you will need to go to the southern end of the Golden Bows area. Follow the main road south through until you see Lycander.
As you continue forward, the quest objective will update and continue directing you toward Lycander. As you make your way through the area, you will encounter many enemies, but it is your choice whether to defeat them or simply run past them on your mount to complete your objective at a faster speed.
Speak With Lorath
After making your way through the region, converse with Lorath to proceed with your quest. When your conversation with Lorath is finished, your next objective is to find evidence of corruption in the area surrounding you.
However, while moving around the area, you can continue using your mount to avoid unnecessary fights if you want to complete the quest more quickly.
Investigate the Corruption and Reach the Temple
As you progress, engage and kill any enemies you find in the corrupted areas, and continue your exploration to find loot (chests or ore veins) through your travels. Eventually, the questline will also continue toward the Temple of Life as you head south.
At the Temple of Life, you will come across corrupted brambles and twisted undergrowth blocking your way. Kill the enemies in the area and destroy the corrupted growths to continue progressing through the quest.
Defeat the Beast of Thorns
Upon going deeper inside the corrupted area, you will be confronted with the Beast of Thorns. During the fight, you must eliminate the corrupted hosts linked to the brambles. Once they have been removed, it allows you to progress further. After defeating him and completing this task, the quest “A Devil in the Garden” will be complete.
