Which Faction to Pick in AION 2

Choosing a faction is one of the first decisions you have to make in AION 2. Although the Elyos and Asmodians have the same classes, statistics, and customisation options, they differ greatly in terms of their lore, regions of the game, field bosses, and other faction-related elements. Here’s what you need to know before choosing your side.

What Changes Between Elyos and Asmodians?

Ultimately, playing in AION 2 means that you must make a decision between picking Elyos or the Asmodians primarily because it will impact the storyline, regions, and how much of the faction-specific content you will be able to access in the game.

In addition to that, both factions even share the same classes, stats, skills, and character customisation options, so there is no inherent combat advantage to picking one over the other. The factions themselves occupy different areas of the virtual world, which means that they also have their own towns, zones, and pathways for levelling routes. Additionally, they follow different storylines with unique quests, characters, voice acting, and cutscenes.

There are certain visual differences between the factions in the game; for example, the Elyos get white wings upon ascending while the Asmodians receive darker ones. However, character customisation is no longer faction-specific. Both sides have the same body and face options, and Asmodians no longer have the claws and talon-like feet they had in the original AION.

Same Classes and Stats

The two factions share all eight classes, but there are no unique racial stats or faction-specific skills. For instance, selecting the Gladiator class is the same on both sides. Crafted gear has different names depending on the faction, but the actual crafted item will be identical. The recipes, components, Kinah costs, and stats remain the same. When crafting an item for the opposing faction, match recipes and stats, not the name of the item.

Faction Servers and PvE

In AION 2, the servers are divided according to factions, which means that Asmodians and Elyos cannot play on the same server. Faction servers can be matched up for the purpose of Abyss battles, but the characteristics of the matches can change from time to time. However, depending on the server population, same-faction matchups can also occur.

When it comes to PvE, obtaining a faction does not matter much as players can play in parties with members of either faction. You can also get to the territory of your opponents by using Spacetime Rifts, which can open dungeons, strongholds, and creatures on the other side, including creatures relevant to pet collection.

Which Faction Should You Pick?

If the major reason for playing is the story, zones and factions, do opt for the faction whose world and story appeal more to you. If you have friends joining in, then you should coordinate with them, since you can’t server hop between factions.

For concerns related to character power, there is no need to worry about advantages, as both factions have the same classes, stats, and skills. If you want to enjoy both stories and worlds in AION 2, you have the option of creating two characters, one from each of the factions.
