Star Wars Zero Company lets you decide how difficult you want the campaign to be, offering you different difficulty settings. Whether you are new to tactical games or already have plenty of experience, there is a mode that should suit your playstyle.
Star Wars Zero Company Difficulties Explained
With Star Wars Zero Company, you have multiple difficulty choices, depending on how difficult you would like your campaign to be. For those who are new to tactical games and care more about the storyline than anything else, Story Mode will be the least difficult option available to you. However, if you do not want to be that easy on yourself, then you may choose Normal, Hard, or Expert mode. But there is one other mode that changes things up entirely: Beskar Mode.
Story and Normal Mode
Story Mode is the easiest mode of the Star Wars Zero Company game. This mode caters to the people who play the game just for fun and love its story more than its fighting aspects. If you have never played any tactical game before, then this is the perfect mode for you to get started with. Normal Mode provides more challenges than Story Mode but is easier than Expert Mode.
Hard and Expert Mode
The Hard and Expert difficulties make enemies more difficult due to increased health and damage; other modifications are also introduced. With Hard Mode, the range at which your squad’s weapons are able to deal damage is shorter; thus, you will need to pay more attention to positioning during battles.
You will begin the game with weaker bonds between the members of your squad, which will make the building of relationships more difficult. The Bacta Tank is not available at the Hard difficulty, meaning that you will need to use normal med bays to restore the health of your injured Operator; it takes one cycle to do that. The Expert Mode retains all these changes and adds additional difficulty to them.
Beskar Mode
The Beskar Mode game features one save file that lasts the entire game; hence, saving and reloading after problems is not possible. Once an operator dies, they remain dead because there is no option to undo your mistakes. The game ends once Hawks or another major character dies or you fail a critical mission; your campaign ends.
Permadeath Mode
You can also choose if you want to use permadeath when launching the game. This function is active by default, but you can disable it in case you do not want to lose your operators for good. Playing with permadeath on the first try will make your game much more intense. Each death will force you to move on and adapt your squad after each loss. It also makes every mission feel more important because mistakes can have lasting consequences.
However, if you want to play in a more carefree way, you can easily decide to turn the permadeath function off. In this case, you will be able to keep all your favourite operators until the end of the campaign. You can develop them into your main squad without any problems.
