Lucian, the Thirsting Knight is one of the minibosses in Mortal Shell 2 but has a pretty challenging second phase. His first phase is relatively simple but is going to be difficult in later stages as he will hide in the shadows whenever the player has to deal with the enemy’s attacks. It is essential to use the healing resources wisely in the first phase and learn to identify his techniques to make everything easier.
Lucian the Thirsting Knight Location
Lucian can be found at the Stonebled Gate Beacon located along the Corrupted Gate. To reach the location, simply trace your way back from the Widow’s Overlook Beacon to Black Ridge Pass where the trial will be conducted, allowing you to earn the Retribution Stone. You can also visit the Sanguine Caverns along the way for a health regeneration upgrade.
At Black Ridge Pass, climb the hill and turn left while defeating enemies in the way, this will allow you to keep track of the explosives and the knight. You will need to jump through the gate and cross the bridge till you reach the Sanguine Caverns. Continue through the area until you can drop down on the right, where you’ll find the health regeneration upgrade and the Beacon. Cleanse the Stonebled Gate Beacon to reach Lucian.
How to Defeat Lucian
First Phase

Lucian’s first phase is comparatively simpler than the second phase, hence, the goal in this phase is to conserve healing items.
It is helpful to use Burn in this phase because it enables players to inflict a lot of damage and makes it possible to complete the phase quickly.
During the fight, Lucian employs two types of combo. While one must be avoided, the other combo presents the player with the chance to parry. Once the player manages to parry, they should use a dash before continuing the fight.
If a player is having trouble keeping track of him, they can use the lock-on feature. Ideally, it is good to enter the second phase with three healing items left in stock. The use of two mushrooms at this phase is recommended based on the build used in the fight.
Second Phase

The actual difficulty arises when Lucian crosses into the shadow zone and becomes invisible. Instead of simply guessing where he is, you can make use of your surroundings or status effects to bring him to light.
There is one way of doing this, where you need to stand in the middle of the field and stay under the sunlight. Lucian would have to come closer to put you under attack, thus making him visible while being in the light. He remains in sight as long as he is under sunlight, but becomes invisible again if he moves away or is pushed out of it.
You can also reveal him by applying a status effect. Tarstones that give your weapon or sidearm effects such as Burn, Poison, Freeze, or Bloodcurse can effectively mark Lucian and make him visible while he is hidden.
The Emberseed Stone is one option available relatively early. It can be found inside a chest while cleansing the Mushroom Village Beacon, and it gives your weapon the ability to inflict Burn.

If you are not using a status effect, keep your guard raised and wait for Lucian to reveal himself through an attack. Once he appears, take the opportunity to strike before repositioning. Be careful around the edges of the arena, as it is possible to become stuck while trying to track him.
Lock-on can also help maintain your bearings during this phase. If you can apply Burn again, take advantage of the damage and stagger. Focus on surviving his attacks, wait for him to become visible, and punish the openings rather than constantly trying to predict his location.
Recommended Build
The instrument utilized in the encounter contains the Econoclast Sword +3 along with the Proxima Shell. The Star Stones used are the Auspicious Stone which provide critical chance, and Wounding Stone for perforation.
It is important to note that the Bloody Infusion has been tried but did not contribute much to the setup. As a result, the Emberseed Stone can be used for Burn and staggering Lucian immediately.
Lucian’s Reward
Defeating Lucian rewards you with the Serpent Stone. It consumes 50 Resolve to infuse your weapon with Poison, allowing you to use the Poison infusion.
