The way you die matters in Mistfall Hunters; different types of deaths return you in your expedition or outright kill you. The guide will explain how death works in the game, including what happens after you die in PvE and PvP and how you can get a second chance.

Death Doesn’t Always Mean the Same Thing

All missions in Mistfall Hunters are risky but the outcome of death varies based on the reason for it. The deaths are separated by whether they were caused by monsters or by players, and while one situation may allow for recovery, in the other one, recovery is impossible. Knowing this difference can help you make decisions about which approach to take.

What You Lose When You Die

If you fail to recover from the expedition, dying may cost both the items you had during the run and the loot you acquired on the way. Therefore, a good idea is to keep your goods in a camp storage before leaving for a new expedition, because anything stored there is guaranteed to stay safe.

How the PvE Revival System Works

Being defeated by monsters does not automatically mean that the mission has come to an end. In case of such a situation where you were defeated without any interference from another player, you will transform into Soul Form instead of losing your run.

Once you are in Soul Form, you will be transported to a nearby point of revival where you must hurry to reach the location of your death within the given time. Arriving at the location will enable you to complete the revival process in the game.

This revival process is only available for a limited period of time, therefore you will need to act quickly.

PvP Deaths Don’t Offer a Second Chance

The process of recovering your soul only works for deaths that are directly a result of monster attacks. If you are killed as a result of a player attack, you won’t have any option to return for your life.

This means that if you were to be killed in battle against another player, your expedition would end as soon as you die with no chance to come back. Because of this, encounters with other players carry much higher stakes than fighting PvE enemies.

Why the Difference Matters

For example, if you are battling against monsters, then you know you may be able to correct your errors and redeem yourself. By returning to your ghost form and moving back to claim your body, you can still survive in some way.

But if you’re outmatched against another player, then your adventure is essentially over, thus making it essential to know when to retreat instead of trying to fight.

Tips to Avoid Dying

Be careful about taking too long for looting a single area, as waiting around just makes it easier for enemies to kill you; therefore, keep progressing. When the Gyldenmist is approaching you, follow the perimeter of the safe zone, as it might be safer than trying to go through a crowded area. Also, if you are part of a team, stay together. Remember also to close the door or the gate when possible, to slow down the pursuers and make your escape easier.
