In Palworld 1.0, Merchants are among the most helpful NPCs. Most Merchants sell unique items, including blueprints, weapons, materials for crafting, consumables, and Pal upgrades, either of which can be hard or even impossible to get anywhere else. Even better, you can catch and take many of them back to your base and keep enjoying their shops without running back and forth to settlements.

Where to Find Wandering Merchants

In the game, players can encounter Wandering Merchants in various forms. The most effective method of locating them is by visiting their specific spawn points in settlements, but they may also turn up at random spots during your exploration and even visit your base from time to time.

Following are some locations in settlements where Wandering Merchants can be found:

  • Small Settlement
  • Fisherman’s Point
  • Duneshelter
  • Marsh Island
  • Sea Breeze Archipelago
  • Forgotten Island

Since the merchants in settlements appear at fixed locations, they’re the easiest ones to locate if you’re looking for a specific shop.

How to Spawn and Capture Visiting Merchants

In addition to their regular locations, Wandering Merchants can also visit your base. Every visitor carries a different inventory, so collecting several of them gives you access to a wider selection of goods.

Placing a Pal Box in a secure area can attract a merchant. Making a few base parts can help in getting the merchant. After you place the Pal Box, a merchant is likely to appear after 5 minutes, although the timing isn’t always the same.

If you wish to get a different merchant, you need to dismantle the Pal Box and put it back in the same location, so that the process resets. In case there is no merchant for several minutes, the same process can be repeated again.

Note that worlds with raids enabled can get you the raid instead of a merchant visit.

Once the merchant appears, they walk toward your base before going to the Pal Box. You can take a look at their inventory first, or you can capture them using a Pal Sphere. Remember, there may be guards protecting some merchants which might result in your character being Wanted if you attempt to capture them.

Once you have successfully captured the merchant, it will be put in your Palbox to be used whenever you are back at your base for shopping.

What Wandering Merchants Sell

Every merchant has their own specialty when it comes to the products they sell; hence if you get different merchants, you will be able to acquire many supplies as a result.

Depending on the merchant, you can obtain ammunition, medicines, agricultural produce, cooked food, Pal materials, crafting resources, equipment, and upgrading items. In addition, some merchants sell equipment that one can normally have only later in the game, thus providing you with an opportunity to get some equipment earlier compared to other players if you have sufficient Gold.

Also, many merchants sell Schematics that unlock crafting recipes for higher-grade equipment. Unlike standard Technology unlocks, these blueprints lead to obtaining more powerful equipment although crafting any of this equipment usually needs some additional materials.

Legendary Medal Merchant

Due to the fact that it caters to Dog Coins now instead of Gold, the Legendary Medal Merchant is considered as one of the most valuable merchants in the new update.

Some of the items available with the merchant are permanent work-affinity Handbooks, Legendary spear schematics, and Star Fruits that increase a Pal’s rank, Elixirs, etc.

If you intend to recruit this merchant, using a Mercy Ring can make his HP drop down to 1 without actually defeating him, thus letting you capture him with a Pal Sphere afterwards.

Best Dog Coin Farming Location

According to the transcript, the quickest farming area for Dog Coins is situated in the World Tree zone. Start at the snowy area in the northwest and move to the Abandoned Laboratory located at the coordinates -1962, -1625.

Your target will be Mymogs, which are Neutral Pals that give you Dog Coins once killed. Utilizing a flying mount increases your ability to travel to the other caves and open fields quickly. It is very easy to see Mymogs because they have a square shape allowing them to be seen easily and it is possible to get several of them spawn in the same area.

It is also recommended for you to utilize Katress because her Partner Skill raises the amount of items dropped by the defeated Neutral Pals which in turn will give you a lot more Dog Coins.

Bounty Merchant

The Bounty Merchant can be found in the Small Settlement, where they deal in Implants, which allow you to modify your Pal’s powers by giving them certain abilities.

The transactions involving the merchant do not use Gold, but Successful Bounty Tokens instead. You should first find the merchant and then capture them to use their inventory at your base whenever needed.

How to Earn Successful Bounty Tokens

Bounty Token is gained by defeating bounty targets that have a purple icon on the world map.

Upon defeating these enemies, bounty tokens would be given out. For those who initially captured these enemies, additional bounty tokens may be obtained by killing them afterwards. Bounty tokens received from the higher-level rewards are larger than lower-level ones.

Pal Merchant Location

The Pal Merchant is located in Duneshelter. For one, the merchant sells a variety of Pals and also gives you the option of retrieving Pals that you lost. Therefore, in case you have an important Pal or an Alpha Pal that you lost, you can also find it again with this specific merchant without rolling for an alternative Pal.
