Gizmos are utility items that are associated with Sprites and are introduced in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. The difference between Gizmos and other regular items is that they fit in your Pickaxe Slot, which means they are not included in your regular inventory. In this article, we have explained everything you need to know about how to use a Gizmo from your Pickaxe Slot.
What Are Gizmos?
The Gizmos are helpful tools made to help out the Sprite system in various ways. As of now, there are three Extraction Gizmos that can be used:
- Portable Extractor: It enables the extraction of Sprite from different areas of the island.
- Sprite Locator: This is used to detect buried Sprite Chests.
- Extraction Site Booster: This Gizmo increases the Sprite Dust received when extracting Sprites at a Boosted Extraction Crate.
Any of these Gizmos can help complete the objective of the tutorial.
How to Use a Gizmo From Your Pickaxe Slot
To access your Gizmos, equip your Pickaxe first. A quick press switches to your harvesting tool, while holding the Pickaxe button opens the Gizmo wheel. By default, this is L on PC, Y on Xbox, and Triangle on PlayStation, although the controls may differ if you’ve changed your keybinds. Opening the Gizmo wheel will help you take a look at the Gizmos you own.
After that, select any Gizmo and activate it. For example, the Portable Extractor is used to extract a Seven Sprite and this is enough to complete the objective of the tutorial. Keep in mind that the quest is not strictly related to one specific Gizmo, so you may also use the other Gizmos, such as the Sprite Locator or the Extraction Site Booster, for example.
If you are going to use the Portable Extractor, wait for the extraction to finish before doing anything else. If you move or interrupt this process, extraction won’t finish successfully.
Upon the successful completion of Gizmo usage, the quest will end, and you will receive 12,000 XP as rewards.
How to Get More Gizmos
Since the use of Gizmos results in their depletion, it is necessary to restock the devices over time. Restocking can be accomplished either by buying new devices from Sprite Dust Services at Extraction Sites or moving along the Sprite Mastery track. Completing Bonus Goals quests also grants players Gizmos as a reward.
