Homestead System is an important part of Where Winds Meet that allows building houses, cultivating crops, cooking meals, assigning workers, and opening various buildings. While progressing in the tutorial, players will develop their Homestead by raising its Prosperity level and finishing certain quests in order to get access to additional options. In this guide, we’ll tell you each step of the Homestead system, so you can complete the tutorial quickly and unlock everything.
Where Winds Meet Homestead System – How to Unlock
To get access to the Homestead system, first, you will have to complete the quests “Where Bamboos Remember” and “Childhood Reverie Exploration Quests” in Qinghe. After completing both these quests, you will be able to access Blissful Retreat from where you can begin organising your Homestead. You will also start getting Bounty Gourds, which are the currency used to purchase from the Homestead Shop.

Homestead Activities Explained
After unlocking the Homestead, you will have access to many different activities that will allow you to expand your homestead. The first activity you can do after unlocking the Homestead is farming. This activity allows you to farm various crops, harvest them once they mature, and use them as ingredients in cooking.
Farming
Open the Quest Menu via ‘O’ or from the Esc menu and head towards the objective of your Homestead. Enter Build mode and put your Farm at any location. After placing it, interact with it to operate it. Teleport to your farm, go to Plant Mode by pressing ‘F’, pick Potatoes and start planting them on available spots. Once you’re done with planting, get your watering tool out and water all the crops.
Brewery
You can build a Porcelain Kiln and manufacture dishes that are used in wine production at the Aromas Brewery. Over here, you get to brew various types of wine for your guests who visit your inn or for trading them to earn rewards. The Inn is an important structure in your Homestead and allows you to provide meals and beverages to your customers using Bounty Gourds, which is the main currency.
Warehouse
The Warehouse contains the raw materials of your locality, including fish, meat, stone, and wood. The raw materials help to make goods, cook food, and develop your Homestead further. With each expansion of your homestead, you can create more buildings and industrial units, upgrade the existing buildings, and gain access to places like Crane Retreat, where your servants can take rest and perform special tasks.
Cooking

Go to Open Build Mode and insert a Basic Stove into the inn. As soon as the structure is completed, interact with it and assign a worker there. Then put your farmed crops into the cooking ingredients and start the process. After that, insert a Basic Dining Table into the inn. Assign another worker there as a Caterer. Select the food and start catering. When reaching the level of 250 Prosperity, advance your Homestead to Level 3.
Expanding the Inn
In Level 3, you will need to expand the inn. Insert a second Basic Stove and assign another cook there. Then insert the second Dining Table and appoint their assigned caterer. Insert the residence in any free place.
Bug: There is an issue where inserting one residence may create two at once. If it happens, remove both buildings and reinsert the residence once again. When the building is completed, approach any recruitable NPC, press F, select Retainer Recruitment and appoint the first worker using the recruitment item from the tutorial.
Building Standard Cleaning Facility

Following that, build the Standard Cleaning Facility in your Homestead. After building it, upgrade the structure to Level 2. Before starting production, a worker should be assigned to operate the structure. Switch to Build Mode, choose Beds, and create some beds in the residence. After creating the beds, head back to the cleaning facility, appoint your worker, select production, and start production.
Choose an empty space in your Homestead and build the distillation tower there. After that, build the Brewery next to the distillation tower. Assign a worker to brew wine. In case the production gets cancelled, or workers decline to work, ensure you have housing for all of them by building more beds in the residence.
How to Upgrade Homestead

Open the Homestead menu and note the upgrade prerequisites. You’ll need to have 1,500 Prosperity and 3,000 Bounty Gourds before being able to upgrade your building. Open the quest menu using the button O and accept the quest Fortune’s Full. Finishing the quest unlocks the Touchstone Vessel system together with its tutorial.
Your next quest is Beyond the Mundane. Complete objectives and follow quest markers until you have to get on the boat, which will take you to a new location called Cloudbound Realm. Finish objectives while exploring the new place. At some point, you will reach the place called Cloud Rest, and your quest will introduce your new property in this region.
In order to leave this area, use the Map (M) and return to your homestead. Now it’s time to unlock one more homestead building. Upgrade your Brewery to Level 3, and when done, you’ll unlock Crane Retreat. Open the Homestead menu, select Crane Retreat and place your building at the recommended location. Then construct the Game Board Table in your Crane Retreat. Place the object and assign two retainers to your building. You have unlocked all major systems and completed the Homestead questline.
