The Rogue’s Camp is an early faction quest in Gothic 1 Remake, where you will have to find the secret camp and talk to Quentin on behalf of Lee. However, getting into the camp is not as easy as following the path, since you will have to prove your trustworthiness to the guards by freeing Arlin from the prison in the Old Camp. This guide tells you how to find the Rogues’ Camp, rescue Arlin, unlock every door, and complete the quest from start to finish.

The Rogues’ Camp Quest

If you have signed up for the Mercenaries, one of the first quests given to you by Lee is the Camp quest, in which your task is to find the hidden Rogue Camp. For players joining the Wardens, the same task is offered via Old Camp.

Start off by standing on the bridge that leads to the Old Camp and proceed along the main road for some distance. After passing by the first two torches on the road, turn right and head into the forest. Keep moving ahead into the forest until you come across a cave filled with monsters.

Do not enter the cave but rather go around it and start going up the hill. In the process, you will have to find several groups of aggressive creatures. Eventually, you will find some old stone steps which will take you towards the temple. Turn back at this point and proceed using the side road.

Keep following the trail until you see the guard who guards the Rogues Camp. Although you may choose to attack him, there is a better alternative to that. Talk to the guard, and he will let you in provided that you do something for him. This starts the Bar the Truce quest.

How to Complete Bar the Truce

This guard informs you that his friend Arlin has been kidnapped and put behind bars in the Old Camp prison. Upon rescuing him, you will be permitted to access the Rogues Camp. Travel back to the Old Camp and get into the castle courtyard. The task is relatively easy to complete during nighttime as there are not many guards. Upon getting in, travel to the basement where you’ll find the locked door.

Basement Door Lock Combination

Use the following lockpicking sequence to open the basement door:

  • Slot 2 – Right ×2
  • Slot 6 – Left ×1
  • Slot 4 – Left ×2
  • Slot 1 – Right ×2
  • Slot 5 – Right ×5
  • Slot 4 – Left ×5
  • Slot 3 – Right ×1
  • Slot 5 – Right ×3
  • Slot 1 – Right ×1

Once the lock opens, enter the basement. At the far end, you’ll find another locked grate leading toward the prison. To unlock the grate, use this sequence:

  • Slot 5 – Right ×4
  • Slot 4 – Right ×5
  • Slot 1 – Left ×4
  • Slot 5 – Right ×3
  • Slot 2 – Right ×2

Go through the grate and continue into the torture chamber. Search the room for loot, then pull the wall torch. This activates a hidden mechanism that opens the path to the prison cells.

How to Free Arlin

However, once you get to the jail, speak to Arlin before unlocking his cell, since the dialogue will show you that he eventually confessed under pressure, but nevertheless, the aim is still the same: release him. You have two options for that: either defeat the guard next to you and take the key from him, or pick the lock.

Prison Cell Lock Combination

The prison cell lock is surprisingly easy despite its appearance. Use this sequence:

  • Slot 7 – Right ×3
  • Slot 3 – Right ×5
  • Slot 6 – Right ×2
  • Slot 2 – Left ×3

After opening the cell, Arlin changes into a disguise so he can escape unnoticed. He’ll leave the Old Camp on his own, so you don’t need to escort him anywhere.

Entering the Rogues Camp

Return to the guard outside of Rogues Camp. Tell him that you have managed to rescue Arlin, and as promised, he will open the gates for you, thus allowing you to get inside. Walk around the camp until you come across a location on the cliff, where Quentin is usually hanging around during daytime. In case you get there at nighttime, he will probably be sleeping somewhere around there. Just wake him up and talk to him.

During the conversation, Quentin will inform you that he does not recruit any Mercenaries now; however, he will not turn away those who want to become their members. Do not forget to talk with Arlin again before exiting the camp in order to get your reward for completing this quest. After that, return to Lee and report what you learned to complete the quest.
