The HydroElectric Turbine is one of the easiest ways to generate steady power in Subnautica 2 using flowing water currents. Proper placement is necessary to ensure that the HydroElectric Turbine operates properly. With this guide, you’ll learn how to position the HydroElectric Turbine, connect your Power Transmitters, and deliver power directly to your base efficiently.

Find Flowing Water

You’ll need to use the HydroElectric Turbine in an area where there is a constant flow of water. To use the HydroElectric Turbine correctly, you will need to place it within an active water stream and connect it to your base by using a Power Transmitter. Finding a constant source of flowing water can be difficult; therefore, you will need to put some effort in searching for specific locations.

Make sure to pay close attention to the power value in the build preview when placing the HydroElectric Turbine. If the power value is 0, you haven’t placed it at the correct position. You will need to move it further into the flowing water until the power displays as 12. The number 12 indicates the amount of power the turbine will produce.

Place the HydroElectric Turbine

If the turbine reads 12 power, then you can go ahead and build the turbine. Once the turbine has been placed, it will automatically rotate with the water flow and start producing power.

You can build multiple turbines within the same area. Some turbines might rotate to the opposite directions; however, they will all provide power to the same electrical system. If the preview reads less than 12, the turbine will not work correctly.

Build the Power Transmitter

After the turbine has been set up, the next step is to have a nearby Power Transmitter. The transmitter will automatically connect as long as it is in range of the turbine.

You may also continue to build additional Power Transmitters at greater distances to extend power from the turbine all the way back to the base; however, if the distance becomes too much, you will lose connection.

Connect Power to Your Base

When you’re placing the last Power Transmitter near your base, ensure that you have properly connected it to the structure. It cannot be partially attached. Wait for the circular connection indicator on the bottom to appear, then place the transmitter to complete the setup. Once complete, your base will receive power from the HydroElectric Turbine.
