One of the most powerful tools for crafting items in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, is the Horadric Cube, which allows players to reroll their affixes, upgrade gear, and target specific uniques without too much trouble. By understanding how the cube works, players can improve their progression and create more powerful builds throughout every leveling stage of the game.
Crafting Powerful Early Game Gear

One of the most powerful items in Diablo for new players who aren’t able to make a real investment in the game is the Horadric Cube, as it can be used to craft some of the strongest weapons and armors available before reaching the end game content. Understanding how the crafting system, especially the tuning prisms, allows you to create powerful items faster and will help you in creating great gear much earlier in the game.
One of the most useful parts of using tuning prisms with gear is the ability to add affixes. By using tuning prisms to craft other types of gear, you will discover that certain affixes can be added to specific pieces of gears like gloves, rings, and amulets which will yield many offensive affixes from the aggressive tuning prisms, making them good targets for players trying to create high-damage gear without using ancestral items. The fact that most armor and jewellery pieces do not need to be of ancestral quality to be powerful, allows you to craft very strong gear with white, blue, and yellow items.
Chaotic Reroll and Focus Reroll are also extremely important crafting systems. Chaotic Reroll changes a selected affix into a completely random one, while Focus Reroll keeps the new affix within the same category. For example, if your ring has an unwanted defensive stat like life regeneration, you can use defensive tuning prisms to specifically reroll that affix into something stronger, such as maximum life. This makes it much easier to fix gear with otherwise excellent stats.
Optimizing and Finishing Your Gear
The mechanic Remove Affix allows you to remove unwanted stats from your gear entirely. With this mechanic, players can downgrade their gear to a white item and use it later for crafting purposes. After using Remove Affix to optimize your gear, the last step before complete optimization is Transfigure Gear, which is a means of adding powerful modifiers to your finished gear. Once a piece of gear has been Transfigured, it is no longer modifiable, therefore always transfigure your gear at the end of the crafting process.
The cube can also be used for transmuting items. The 3-for-1 Transmutation System allows you to combine three of the same type of item into a new version. If you use three ancestral items for transmutation, you will get an ancestral item. Recycle Unique works in the same manner as the transmutation system and will greatly cut down the amount of time spent farming bosses.
Farming Specific Items Faster

The Upgrade to Unique feature gives players the ability to create specific unique items from their white ancestral gear by converting those items into uniques of the same base type. This is particularly advantageous for classes that do not have a lot of available unique weapons and therefore it is easier for them to obtain the exact unique item they want to farm.
Combined with prism farming in the Undercity, the Horadric Cube becomes one of the most efficient progression systems in the game, giving players far more control over their builds and gear upgrades.
