If you want to upgrade your crafting setup in Windrose, building the Large Smelting Furnace is very important. This structure lets you process better materials and unlock stronger gear once you start exploring the swamp region. You’ll first need to unlock the recipe and gather a few important resources. In this guide, we will show you how to unlock the furnace, the materials you need, and how to get every item.
How To Unlock And Build A Large Smelting Furnace
To unlock the recipe, you’ll need access to the Swamps biome. This usually happens after you defeat the second boss, as the game will guide you there through the main quest. Once you’re in the swamp, look for Ancient Debris Sites. These are special spots where you can gather Ancient Scraps. Now, to craft the furnace, open your build menu. You’ll need the following materials:
- 20 Hewn Stones
- 10 Iron Ingots
- 20 Clay
Once you’ve gathered everything, go back to the build menu, select the Large Smelting Furnace, and place it in your base.
How To Craft An Iron Ingot
Next, you’ll need to build two key structures: a Smelting Furnace (15 Clay, 30 Stone) and a Charcoal Kiln (25 Wood, 20 Clay). Start by making charcoal. Just place some Hardwood into the Charcoal Kiln and let it process. Once you’ve got charcoal ready, head over to the Smelting Furnace. To craft an Iron Ingot, add 3 Foothills Iron Ore and 1 Charcoal. After about 30 seconds, you’ll get your Iron Ingot.
How To Get Clay
Clay doesn’t show up clearly on your map. However, there is an easier way to get clay by heading to coastal areas. You will need to look for jungle biomes located along the coast. Here, you can find clay. All that you have to do is mine the clay with your pickaxe.
How To Get Hewn Stone
First, you have to go to the Swamp biome. Then, search for the Ancient Scraps. The mining site spots in the swamp are where you can find them. Once you get one, the Hewn Stone crafting recipe will be unlocked for you. Then, you need to return to the Workbench to craft the Hewn Stones. It only requires three Stones to be crafted into one Hewn Stone.
