Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon: How Does Mining Work?

Crafting is also a massive aspect of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. As you play through the main game, you’ll want to make sure that your weapons and armour are levelled up with you. With improper upgrades, you’ll sustain damage, effectively making the game much more complicated than it otherwise would be.

There are all kinds of resources the game appears to toss your way to keep track of. Resources such as iron or copper, which you will discover within lootable crates, can also be mined from their associated ores. To be certain, though, you will not be mining anything during the early stages of the game until you are awarded with a Pickaxe. Here is the information you should know regarding mining in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

How to Get Pickaxe in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?

The first thing to mine resources in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is to find a Pickaxe.

First Method

When you find yourself on the beach after the end of the Prologue with Arthur, your main quest will lead you towards the Horns of the South castle. You can approach the merchant Orlaith (found straight next to the main gate) and buy a Pickaxe for 16 Coins when you get there.

Second Method

Or else, there is another means of acquiring a Pickaxe without laying out a single Coin. When you touch down on the beach, take the road forward until you come to a split in the road. Take the right lane and just keep going forward until you meet an NPC called Horst, who is mining a giant fallen statue of King Arthur.

Standing right next to him is a mining cart with a Pickaxe inside. Since it’s not stealing per se, you won’t have to worry about the NPC turning hostile either.

How to Mine in the Game?

Once you’ve got a Pickaxe, mining is relatively easy. You just go to any of the ores that are mineable and activate them. On PC, press E, or press X/A if you’re playing with a controller. You need to press the button three times to drain the node completely and get the resources.

Here are all the Ores in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon:

  • Copper Ore: Most common ore during Act 1. Green in colour.
  • Iron Ore: Less common than Copper but still found in Act 1. Identified by being peach-colored.
  • Wyrdstone Ore: On stone walls inside the Archspire. White in colour.
  • Meteorite Ore: A rare to see encounter during Act 1. There is one on the windowsill of the collapsed tower near Forgotten Cemetery.
  • Titanium Ore: More plentiful later on in the game. A limited number of nodes are found in the northern parts of the map. These are colored red.

Best Locations for Mining

Mining nodes are dispersed across the world, usually located inside caves, rocky hills, or abandoned paths. Some of the most vital places to go to are:

The Great Mine

  • Located close to the top-left edge of the map.
  • Access is gated behind the quest development.
  • One of the most profitable ore sites is opened up once.

Blood Lake Cave

  • Swim to the back of Blood Lake and dive underwater.
  • In the cave, you’ll find nodes that contain uncommon material like Wyrdstone.
  • Be sure to bring your pickaxe with you — no pick, no ore!

(Note: There might be hostile mobs in high-output areas. Bring healing items and be prepared for a battle.)

Ways to Increase Efficiency During Mining

The following are some innovative suggestions to make your mining excursions more efficient:

  • Have a pickaxe within reach at all times — you never know when you could stumble across a node.
  • Have a torch or a lantern in tunnels — nodes in the dark can be hard to spot.
  • Tag locations in your map where there are valuable nodes or where you don’t yet have access.
  • Tame your weight — ore is heavy and will slow you down in no time.
  • Do not use your pickaxe during combat unless necessary — durability is important.

Learning how to mine will end up becoming a crucial element for your Tainted Grail gameplay later on. The better you become at mining and the more efficiently you do it at the beginning of the game, the more it will pay off later on.
