The only way you can lower hostility is by not engaging in any further battle. You might encounter enemy factions who are out searching for valuable treasure, and you might be tempted to attack them and steal their loot. But if you do that, you run the risk of turning hostile, and your hostility levels would be on the rise. The more faction ships you attack, the higher the risk of the faction turning hostile towards you. It is best to avoid further battle and turn away from them if you want to lower your hostility levels
Eventually, once you disengage from battle, the hostility level will return to neutral overtime. If you check the top right corner of your screen, you will notice your hostility level with a faction. The more you engage in battle with them, the higher the bar goes, and more ships will be sent to attack you. If you leave the premise without putting up a fight, you will eventually get a Now Neutral pop up on your screen. It will take a bit of time for things to return to normal, so just leave the area and come back at a later time.
