Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set to release on September 9, 2024. Gamers around the globe are eagerly waiting for Focus Entertainment’s upcoming action-adventure title. The game has three modes: Campaign, Operations (PvE) & Eternal War (PvP).
However, the Operations (PvE) mode in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 emphasizes teamwork and class synergy, making the choice of class vital to your squad’s success. Before the game’s arrival, players need to know more about the best Classes for Operations. In this article, players will learn more about the classes and their rank.
Best Classes for the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Operations (PvE) mode:
There are six different Classes that players can use in the Operations (PvE) mode in the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. Here is the rank-wise list of all Classes.
1. Heavy
Why the Heavy class is ranked the best and at the top is for the simple fact that the Iron Halo ability is quite OP. With this ability active, you can get a defensive shield against all ranged attacks. Not only do you get great defense from the Heavy class, but you can also focus on dealing tons of ranged damage. So if you prefer fighting from mid to long range, then go for the Heavy class
The only drawback to this class is that there is no melee weapon slot, so you have to make do with the best primary and secondary weapons out there. The only reason why this class is difficult to master is because there is lack of AoE options, which makes the Heavy class a target for mobs. But with the right build and perks, the Heavy class can lend support to their allies and also protect them from danger
Primary Weapons | Multi-Melta Heavy Bolter Heavy Plasma Incinerator |
Secondary Weapons | Plasma Pistol Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Not Available |
Ability | Iron Halo |
Armor Class | 3 |
2. Bulwark
The most unique thing about the Bulwark is that this is the only class to own a shield. This is great for self defense, making this another defensive class on top of the list. But like the Heavy class, there is something missing when it comes to weapon assembly. Because the Bulwark has a shield, you cannot use a Primary Weapon here. So with the lack of primary weapon slot, you have to compromise on just relying on your melee and secondary weapon.
The Bulwark is also a great support class, as its Chapter Banner class ability restores armor to all squad members if they can get inside the AoE of the ability. While in battle, focus on improving your melee weapon to help you in close ranged combat. It is best to avoid this class if you prefer using ranged weapon or dealing with enemies from a distance. Besides that, with the right perks, you can clearly utilizie the Bulwark and turn it into a great support and defensive class
Primary Weapons | Not Available |
Secondary Weapons | Plasma Pistol Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Chainsword Power Fist Power Sword |
Ability | Chapter Banner |
Armor Class | 3 |
3. Tactical
Choosing the Tactical class is a lot of fun, as you can utilize their vast variety of weapons. You get the primary, secondary, and melee weapon slots unlocked, so you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the right weapons for your build. This class has a more balanced approach while used using missions, and they can deal moderate damage in close to mid range. There is nothing to compensate with while using the Tactical class, and is a great choice for beginners who are learning the ropes of the game
This is also the only class with a unique ability called Auspex Scan. When this ability is active, you can reveal and mark enemies in the selected area and make them vulnerable. This effect lasts 8 seconds, which gives you and your team ample time to locate and draw out any enemies nearby. You can utilize this greatly during PvE to target hidden enemies
Primary Weapons | Bolt Carbine Auto Bolt Rifle Bolt Rifle Heavy Bolt Rifle Stalker Bolt Rifle Plasma Incinerator Melta Rifle |
Secondary Weapons | Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Chainsword |
Ability | Auspex Scan |
Armor Class | 3 |
4. Assault
The Assault class is a great class for mob control while using the Jump Pack class skill. The Jump Pack will help the Assault class maneuver high up and slam down, dealing a heavy slam attack that will damage all nearby enemies greatly. Hence why the Assault class is great for close combat and dealing with hoards of enemies up close. Couple that with the high armor stat of the Assault, they can literally be invincible as they soar high above the Tyranid hoard. But like the other classes ranked above, there is something lacking with the Assault
There is no primary weapon slot available, so you need to make do with the secondary and melee weapons. Luckily, the Assault class offers a few powerful choices when it comes to melee weapons, like the Thunder Hammer and Chainsword. These weapons are enough to create a lasting slam attack and push back all those horrible Tyranids away from your team. So if you like to get up close and personal while dealing with these creatures, then the Assault class is meant for you
Primary Weapons | Not Available |
Secondary Weapons | Bolt Pistol Heavy Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Thunder Hammer Chainsword Power Fist |
Ability | Jump Pack |
Armor Class | 3 |
5. Sniper
For why the Sniper is at tier five for Operations is for the simple fact that the Sniper class does not offer a lot of varying playstyles. As the class name suggests, you will be dealing with a lot of long range combat. Your melee weapons will be lacking here, so playing in close combat is out of the question. Plus, with a lower Ammo Class, you need to depend more on your teammates for defense and support. This class is literally the worst when it comes to mob control, as the Sniper can be easily swarmed by enemies and there is no way to protect oneself from the onslaught
The only plus points about the Sniper is its ranged attack capabilities and its class skill. With the right primary weapons, you can easily clear out an area from a distance without actually stepping foot there. Your secondary and melee weapons are there for support, but you probably won’t use them if you have a great primary weapon build. And coming to the Class Skill, the Camo Cloak gives camouflage till the time you attack, after which your camouflage breaks. If it does break, you receive increased damage output for a short duration. Camo Cloak is great for reviving fallen teammates without being caught, but you will still bump into those pesky Tyranids regardless, making this ability quite useless in PvE
Primary Weapons | Stalker Bolt Rifle Bolt Sniper Rifle Las Fusil Bolt Carbine |
Secondary Weapons | Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Combat Knife |
Ability | Camo Cloak |
Armor Class | 2 |
5. Vanguard
Another class that doesn’t fare too well in PvE, the Vanguard also has very low arsenal of weapons to choose from. This class is ranked last for the fact that it is the worst when faced with mobs of enemies. Its Grapnel Launcher can only hold on to one enemy at a time, making it risky to use the Vanguard while exploring areas with heavy Tyranid activity. Plus with the low armor stats and limited weapon list, the Vanguard will always require some form of support from teammates to make it through the missions.
But what the Vanguard is good for are boss fights. If you place the Vanguard one on one with a boss, then the Vanguard will always come out victorious. With the right squad, build, and perks, you can turn the Vanguard into a lean mean killing machine that is capable if making it out alive in Operation Missions.
Primary Weapons | Instigator Bolt Carbine Occulus Bolt Carbine Melta Rifle |
Secondary Weapons | Bolt Pistol |
Melee Weapons | Chainsword Combat Knife |
Ability | Grapnel Launcher |
Armor Class | 2 |
