Like all survival game, there is a lot of crafting involved in Valheim that can make survival easier for players. Besides exploring the land, the procedurally generated world also provides an awesome sea that players can explore and the game has a few ship types you can choose to ride the tide. Currently, the game allows players to craft a Raft, Karve, and Longship. How to Craft Raft in Valheim
The Raft is the first sailing vessel you can build in Valheim. A Viking is incomplete without the element of exploring the sea. Once you have built the raft, climb on it and use the rudder to set and change the direction of the vessel.
To build or craft the Raft in Valheim, you require 20 Wood, 6 Leather Scraps, and 6 Resin. Once you have the resources, craft a hammer and build a Workbench near water. Equip the hammer and start building the raft. Once the Raft is build, it will land on the water and you can climb on it to ride it. As you progress in the game, you will see that a Raft is required at various stages.
The ease of building it ensures that you have it up and running in no time.
How to Craft Karve in Valheim
The second stage or a better option to the Raft, but inferior to the Longboat is the Karve. After you have the resources, crafting the Karve is no different than the Raft. To craft the Karve in Valheim, you need resources such as 30 Fine Wood, 10 Deer Hide, 20 Resin, and 80 nail Bronze. After you have gathered the resources, you can use the Hammer to craft the ship.
Go to a nearby water body, set up a Workbench, and use the Hammer to craft the Karve. Once it’s crafted, it will land on the water and you can start sailing.
How to Craft Longship in Valheim
The Longship is by far the best way to sail in seas in the game. It’s an upgrade of Raft. To craft the Longship in Valheim, you need to defeat the Elder boss as it’s the only mob in the game that drops the Elder bark, which is one of the resources required to build the Longship.
After you have built the Longship, sailing it is no different from the Raft. Besides the 10 Elder Bark, other resources required to build the ship are 20 Wood, 10 Hide, and 10 Resin.
Once you have the resources, place the Workbench near the water and use the Hammer from Inventory to build the longboat.
Raft, Karve, and Longship are the only ships you can currently build in the game, but as the game develops, they may be others as well. We will update the post when we know of other ways to sail the seas in Valheim.
