To begin the ‘Traces of Tides VIII’ quest in the Rinascita region of Wuthering Waves, you’ll need to finish Act III of the main storyline. This is one of the harder quests, where you’ll face a series of puzzles, some complex navigation, and a boss battle against Chop Chop. It will take us through the unlocking and completion process of ‘Traces of Tides VIII’: finding the Lifer’s Game, solving the statue puzzles, utilizing Stakes of Imbalance, and defeating the mighty Chop Chop.

How to Unlock the Trace of the Tides

You can only play the ‘Traces of Tides’ quest after you finish the main story of Rinascita’s Act III. Once you’ve done that, the quest will appear in your quest list.

To finish this part of the new event, you need to find a game called ‘Lifer’s Game’. To do that, go to the Oakheart Highcourt, which is located on the Fagaceae Peninsula in the far eastern part of the region. Once you’re at the Highcourt, you’ll have to navigate a maze to reach the center. There, you’ll meet a mysterious NPC.

Tip: If you’re short on time, you can try to skip the maze by hopping over the walls.

Lifer’s Game

To complete this part, you first need to find a game called ‘Lifer’s Game’.

  • Find the Game: Head to the Oakheart Highcourt located on the Fagaceae Peninsula in the far east of the Rinascita region.
    • Shortcut: Instead of navigating the maze at the Highcourt, try to hop over the walls to save time.
  • Prepare for the Game: Before you start ‘Lifer’s Game’, you can make it easier by solving a puzzle.
    • Solve the Puzzle:
      1. Move the center piece to the north.
      2. Move the south piece to the southwest.
      3. Move the east piece to the southeast.

Stakes of Imbalance

In the rooms you just opened, you’ll find special coins called ‘Stakes of Imbalance’.

  • Find and Use the Stakes: Use your in-game sensor to find lines of energy that lead to terminals in these rooms. Use the ‘Stakes of Imbalance’ on these terminals.
  • Remove Buffs: Using the stakes on the terminals will remove two of the ‘Lifer’s buffs’ from the game.
  • Open More Doors:
    1. Don’t reset the statue puzzle.
    2. Move the southeast piece back to the east.
    3. Move the southwest piece to the center.

This will open another set of doors for you to explore.

Stake of Imbalance II

This will open another room with a terminal and a ‘Stake of Imbalance’. Defeat any enemies in the room, then use the stake on the terminal to remove another ‘Lifer’s buff’.

For the final step:

  1. Reset the statue puzzle by pressing the button in the lower right corner.
  2. Move the center piece to the northwest.

That’s the only move you need to make!

Go through the newly opened door and use the final ‘Stake of Imbalance’ on the terminal to remove the last ‘Lifer’s buff’

How to Defeat the Lifer

Rather than choose ‘Start the game’, go with ‘Fight it out!’ That will severely cripple the enemy, bringing the enemy’s power from a threatening 300% down to 100%.

Prepare to face a boss fight. ‘Fight it out!’ takes you to face Chop Chop as a boss.

  • Easy to Avoid Attacks: Chop Chop has slow and easily predictable attacks, so you should be able to dodge them easily.
  • Bring a Strong Team: Make sure you have a powerful team to defeat the boss quickly.

Claim Your Reward: Once you’ve defeated Chop Chop, open the chest in the middle of the room to complete this quest!

That’s it! You’ve successfully completed ‘Traces of Tides VIII’ once you open the chest. If you’ve been completing the ‘Traces of Tides’ quests in order, you should only have one more quest left in the series.
