Dps units are in high demand in Genshin Impact. They help you clear content easily, show off to your friends, and even flex at lower ranked players about their high damage capabilities. With Version 3.0 dropping Sumeru only about a month away, players want to have the best teams possible.
Top 6 DPS Units in Genshin Impact as of Update 2.8
Damage dealers are rated based on consistency, ease of use, and damage output. Additionally, damage dealers that allow for reactions are usually stronger than ones that don’t facilitate many reactions. Of course, the best DPS units are also all 5-star characters since 4-star DPS units can never match up to a 5-star’s damage output. With those in mind, here are the current best DPS units in the game in no particular order.
Hu Tao
Hu Tao is a 5-star Pyro unit and currently one of the strongest DPS units in the game. A majority of her skills scale off of HP% which means she’s very easy to build- though you’ll still need the Crit Rate% and Crit Damage% on her kit to get the maximum damage.
Her elemental skill does more damage than many bursts in the game and it is her main and most consistent source of damage. Her elemental burst is one of the highest single-hit damage output in the game and has an AoE effect. She works best with Xinqiu or Yelan, a shielder like Zhongli and Bennett to maximize her damage output. It’s also preferable to have her C1 since it makes using her easy and convenient.
Ganyu
Ganyu is a 5-star Cryo bow user and is still one of the strongest DPS in Genshin Impact due to her ridiculous charged attacks which do insane damage with an AoE hit. Her elemental skill draws enemy fire so she can do more of her charged attacks from a distance. Her elemental burst has a huge AoE and does insane Cryo damage. If you aren’t a fan of bow units, you can even use her for her skill and burst both of which have support abilities.
She uses a standard DPS build with high ATK% and Crit bonuses but she’s a versatile and easy-to-use unit. Since she can work both as a support and a DPS, she synergizes flexibly in many teams but it’s usually preferable to bring a shielder or a healer along for survivability.
Ayaka
Ayaka is another 5-star Cryo DPS who has the highest total damage output from her elemental burst. Her ice-sprint makes her easy to maneuver and get hit and when she emerges she affects surrounding enemies with Cryo. Her elemental skill does an AoE Cryo attack and affects her normal attacks with the Cryo element thus facilitating some powerful reactions. Her elemental burst does a ton of damage in one direction over time.
Her burst in that sense is similar to that of Diluc’s but it has much higher scaling. While some enemies can still dodge her burst, they’ll be almost dead if not dead by the time they do so. Her normals and charged attacks also have high scaling to the point it can take out most mob enemies in considerably few hits. Her best teammates are Xinqiu, Bennett, Yelan, Xiangling, Kazuha, and even Venti.
Xiao
Xiao is a 5-star Anemo unit and the strongest Anemo DPS in the current meta. His attacks have an AoE effect even though they don’t facilitate many reactions. He also needs an anemo battery in his party since his elemental skill produces only small amounts of energy. Xiao’s team comps are limited and he’s costly to build but his damage makes up for all his shortcomings. He’s easy to use and his damage output is the most consistent of the lot.
Childe
Childe is a 5-star Hydro DPS who has an interesting kit. He’s a bit tricky to use but once you get the hang of his kit, he’s one of the best DPS in the game. His normal bow attacks have good damage scaling but his main source of consistent damage is his elemental skill which makes him a melee unit. He was the first bow user to have a melee combat style and even to this day he’s one of the best.
The more you stay in his melee form the more his elemental skill cooldown increases which is the tricky part we were referring to. His elemental burst is one of the highest single-hit damage in the game barring Hu Tao and Eula. Because he’s a Hydro element unit he also facilitates some strong reactions with other elements.
Eula
Eula is a 5-star claymore Cryo unit and she’s the strongest physical DPS in the game. Though physical DPS units aren’t the most preferred in the game due to the game preferring the use of elemental reactions, Eula’s strength alone bumps her up to this list. Her elemental burst has one of the highest, if not the highest single-hit damage output in the game- on par with Hu Tao.
Her normal attacks do a ton of damage and her elemental skill does a simple AoE cryo attack to enemies in front of her. She’s best paired with Electro support units like Raiden, Beidou or Fischl to facilitate the Superconduct reaction which further boosts Physical damage. She also needs a Cryo teammate to serve as a battery due to her high burst cost.
Some honorable mentions in this list would be Ayato, Raiden Ei, and Itto who are also great DPS units and can be used as your main if you so choose to do so. Dps units are considerably few in the game since most parties are composed of only one main DPS and the rest serve as sub-DPS or supports to aid the main DPS in their job.
