Being a Vampire isn’t just hunting down prey and terrorizing villagers. You will also need to be strategic in building your stronghold, differentiating friends from foes, and trying to stay alive. There are a few things to keep in mind to make your gameplay run smoothly.
Use a Vermin Trap
As the name suggests, a Vermin Trap is needed to, well, trap vermin. You won’t always come across tasty human meat to drain, so you will have to make do with whatever is available, even if it means drinking rat blood. You will be able to build the Trap by first building your lair and having a Refinery. Now go to the Build Menu, select Refineries, and select the Vermin Trap. Use it to trap mice and rats to feast on when you are low on blood.
Watch What You Eat
What you feast on will make you who you are. You can change your blood type by feasting on various types of flesh, but be careful of undesirable blood. Feasting on weaker animals all the time will give you a weaker physique while consuming something stronger will help you not just gain strength but also gain some special abilities. You can also share blood with your fellow vampires to trade the bonuses you get from the blood you have.
Pillage Human Settlements
If possible, you should try to take down any human town you come across. You don’t just need humans for their blood and abilities, but also for the resources that they have. If you wish to farm Whetstones and Stone Dusts, you will be able to get plenty of them by attacking villages having smiths and workshops. Also getting rare items like paper will only be available in Human Settlements.
Learn About Equipment Durability
As time goes on, you will realize that the weapons and armor that you use will wear out the more you use them. You can fix them on the Workbench, but it will require valuable materials that will be hard to come by. It is best to keep an eye on how much longer your gear and equipment can withstand, and swap to something better when you can.
Use Your Crossbow
The strongest weapon in the game that will help you take down V Blood Carriers is the Crossbow. The crossbow is strong enough to take down special targets when you use your Blood Altar to hunt them down. V Blood Carriers are important, as drinking their blood will impart knowledge and special abilities that will help you in the game. You will need to unlock the Woodworking Station that will allow you to craft the Hunter’s Crossbow, but you will have to kill a special hunter in the game to get it.
Pick Up Everything in Your Way
Any object that you come across can be picked up if it is not nailed down. You can do with as many resources as your Castle can hold since these items can give you materials that you can use for crafting and repair. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you might stumble across some rare items along the way.
Use a Lockbox
V Rising comes with a Vampire Lockbox for you to store your most valuable items and equipment. You will need a lockbox as soon as possible, especially while playing PvP. You and your castle will be raided by other players if you are not careful, but with the Lockbox, you can rest assured that all your valuables will remain safe.
Use Waygates
Waygates are an essential mode of transport from one location to another, and can also be used as a respawn point. The only catch is that you cannot carry anything in your inventory with you. So before using a Waygate, you will have to keep all your items locked away somewhere safe, or hidden from view before you can make your journey.
Avoid Sunlight
As a Vampire, you must be familiar with the way sunlight will burn you alive. But sometimes it can’t be helped, and you will find yourself trying to get home during daybreak. This can happen while trying to fight difficult enemies that will last all night. You can use the help of the shadows from trees and objects to make your way back, but try to avoid any daytime encounters along the way.
Use your Refineries
If you keep your refineries running at all times, you will be able to harvest raw materials that are needed for crafting and repair. You will have to keep feeding your Castle Heart with Blood Essence so that your refineries keep running and supplying materials.
