The Cruise Ship level in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is one of the most baffling levels in the game, with vague information and difficult-to-notice goals. One such difficult goal is “Invert the High Wires,” which provides you with very little information and can leave experienced players stuck skating circles. But with a hint of what to do, getting this goal becomes relatively easy.

How to Invert The High Wires?

Step One: Drain the Pool

You have to drain the cruise ship’s pool before you can access the high wires to do the invert. The reason for this is that the wires are quite high above the water, and you will not be able to reach them vertically unless the pool has been drained.

From where you spawn, skate down the first ramp and turn to the right side of the pool. See the bright, neon-colored slide and keep on going past it until you see a group of NPCs playing giant chess in front of an oversized blue building. Right next to them is the rail with the valve leaking. Grind on this rail, and you’ll open the valve, draining the pool.

Step Two: Build Speed and Special Meter

After the pool has been drained, drop in and start skating to build up speed. Based on your skater’s attributes—particularly speed and vert—you might need to build up your special meter to acquire sufficient lift. Perform grabs, flips, or simple combos to fill the special bar rapidly without leaving the bowl.

Step Three: Perform the Invert on the High Wires

With sufficient speed accumulated, move towards one of the two high wires stretched over the vacant pool. As you near the vertical wall just below the wire, tilt your approach and hold left on the d-pad or analog stick while pressing Y (Xbox) / Triangle (PlayStation). This will activate the Invert lip trick.

It’s essential to time the input just so—too soon and you’ll lose the edge, too late and you may spin into a grind. Keep it simple and clean. So long as you hit the invert trick on one of the wires and hold it for a split second, the challenge will count as completed.

Don’t waste trick input going for the invert if you’re still in the middle of a combo. Grinding in place of lip tricking or over-rotating are typical ways to fail this challenge. Pay attention to positioning, speed, and timing.
