A game primarily focused on puzzles can be quite puzzling! Jokes apart, Blue Prince can be a little confusing in the beginning. The rooms within the manor are constantly changing, and so are the hidden clues and items throughout the game. Players experiencing a game like this for the first time need a few tips and tricks.

You’ll learn a lot about the mechanics of the games as you progress. But simple tips like saving up your steps in the early run or taking notes of the essential occurrences in real life can be helpful. Here are a few tips and tricks for players to have a better experience at this mind-boggling puzzle game!

Track Your Steps

At the beginning of each day, the main character starts with 50 steps. You’ll end up losing a step every time you enter a new room or pass through a threshold in the outdoor area. In your search for Room 46, you’ll come across rooms that’ll deduct steps from the total number of steps you have.

If you run out of steps, the game will end, and the “Call it a Day” menu will pop up. The number of steps can be increased by consuming food and using items that reduce step consumption, such as running shoes or drafting rooms like Bedrooms.

Use Gems and Golds Judiciously

You can use Gold and Gems to buy items from the shop or draft special rooms, which require this as a fund. There are items in the shop which cost a lot, like the Magnifying Glass, Metal Detector, or Sledgehammer. Some really high-ranked rooms in the game require a good amount of gems to be drafted.

The best tip for saving these resources is to avoid spending them while running lower-ranked rooms in Blue Prince. You should save them for better opportunities, such as the Laboratory or the Vault.

Taking Notes

You’ve got to possess an insanely sharp photographic memory to remember every little detail sprinkled throughout the game. Since that is not possible with most people, taking notes can be helpful. Recording bits of information, such as the location and what it describes, can save you a lot of time. Taking notes in real life is still better than backtracking to previous rooms because you ended up forgetting something.

Pay Attention to Images

The magnifying glass is an extremely useful tool in the game as it allows you to examine notes, images and other documents closely. There are secret messages that can only be identified with the magnifying glass spread throughout the game, so paying attention to these details is crucial to progress faster in Blue Prince. Some details are not even visible until zoomed in with the help of the magnifying glass.

You can buy this tool from the shop or find it on specific areas such as the Closet, some special item rooms or the desks in the Study and Archive room

Prioritize New Rooms

You can only draft 46 rooms at once in the Mount Holly estate in Blue Prince. However, there are more than 46 rooms in total if you were to draft them all together. You can choose convenient rooms to reach Room 46 quickly and claim your inheritance. However, all these rooms have something new waiting for you. If you get stuck in a room, then do not shy away from drafting a new room, and it has a lot of new things to offer you.

Keep Looking for Hidden Clues

Since Blue Prince revolves around puzzles, this game features a plethora of hidden clues and hints. What might not be appearing in plain sight might appear if you try to think outside the box or notice everything intently. One of the best tips for beginners in this game is to check every little corner and keep your eyes open for every detail.

There are several notes hidden throughout the game, lying blended in your plain sight. Along with these messages, there are other items such as gold, keys, or gems. There are rooms which give these items randomly, while others reward you for solving the puzzles.
