The House of Veth’aal needs your help to find Vaeric, a very important person who is connected to a quest about the power grid. Vaeric is lost on a huge planet called Va’ruun’kai, so it will be difficult to find him. However, there are some ways to make it easier. This guide will tell you how to find Vaeric and whether you should kill or save him in the “Conflict in Conviction” quest in the game Starfield.
Where to find Vaeric
The first part of the quest “Conflict in Conviction” takes you to Herald’s Rest, where Vaeric often goes. If you talk to Egbo Kazmi, he will tell you that Tane can help you. Wait a few seconds, and Tane will arrive at the bar. You can give him 1,000 Credits and ask him to come with you. If you follow the tracks, you will be taken to an Abandoned Camp in the northwest area of Dazra.
Unfortunately, Vaeric won’t be at the Abandoned Camp, so you will need to look around for some clues.
To explore the Abandoned Camp in the “Conflict in Conviction” quest in Starfield, you need to find these things:
Vaeric’s Camp Log: Next to the bed
Footprints: Near the digging site with a wheelbarrow
Vortex Spawn: Part of a Vortex enemy in the dig site
Bloodstains: On a boulder under a tent
The Abandoned Camp is not very big, so you should be able to find these things easily. After you find them, some dangerous enemies called Foul Vortex Horror will appear. Try to survive this attack to continue the quest.
After defeating the enemies, follow the mission marker to find where Vaeric went. Keep following the marker until you reach Irina’s Farm. Irina will tell you that Vaeric is nearby, on an abandoned farm called Apostate’s Farm. You will finally find him here, but first you need to look around.
Go to the left side of the dwelling to find Vaeric’s Computer. Read the logs on the computer to find out more about where he is. Go upstairs and take Vaeric’s Log from the table near the couch. Now that you have the two objects, talk to Tane outside. Vaeric will suddenly appear.
Kill or Spare Vaeric in Conflict of Conviction Quest
When Vaeric comes to you, he will try to explain why he did what he did. He will say that he wants to live a different life away from House Veth’aal, but his father won’t let him. You can choose to attack him, let him go, or convince him to go back home. If you let him go, you can ask him for 10,000 Credits and get his Signet Ring. The ring will make Vaeric’s father think that he is dead.
The second option is you can kill Vaeric and Tane to gain the favors of House Veth’aal’s. The result will be same as the first option but atleast you don’t have to lie to Vaeric’s father
If you convince Vaeric to go back home, everyone will be glad. Even though Vaeric might not want to at first, he’ll eventually understand that his family and home are more important. His father will also forgive him and welcome him back. Out of all the choices, bringing Vaeric back to House Veth’aal is the best one. No one will be sad about this and you’ll still get the 6,600 Credits.
