In Star Wars Outlaws, players are tasked by a Crimson Dawn operative named Eleera with breaking into an Imperial ship to hack data files and implicate the Pykes. But as the protagonists Kay and Nix reach the goal, they are given a choice to either proceed with Eleera’s original plan or betray Crimson Dawn in return by framing it.
In the Data Vault, you can sabotage the Debt Records. This will trigger a cutscene introducing Bosnok, a peculiar character. During the cutscene, you’ll be given the option to either frame the Crimson Dawn or the Pyke Syndicate.
As appealing as the potential reward of Gorak may be, the long-term implications of their decision are that it might make things very different in terms of overall difficulty later in the gameplay.
While the difference in framing either Crimson Dawn or the Pykes will not drastically affect the game’s most important storyline, it will impact Kay’s relationships in the criminal underworld. Sticking to the side of Crimson Dawn will help Kay out with this group, but she will lose much credibility with the Pykes. On the other hand, Framing Crimson Dawn makes Kay more accepted by the Pykes but worsens her relationship with Crimson Dawn.
Crimson Dawn or the Pykes: Which Faction Should You Betray?
Framing the Crimson Dawn significantly damages your reputation with them while greatly improving your standing with the Pyke Syndicate. You also receive a 500-credit reward and learn about a bounty hunter named Vail from Gorak. Apart from this, there is the possibility of improving relations with Kay later in the game, but generally speaking, an early good relationship with Crimson Dawn usually pays off. This is because one of the essential quests for one of the Experts in Star Wars Outlaws can only be started within a restricted portion of the Crimson Dawn base on Mirogana. It also dramatically reduces the amount of stealth that would have been needed to get to the Slicer by being in good standing with Crimson Dawn.
Framing the Pykes significantly damages your reputation with them, greatly improving your standing with Crimson Dawn. You also receive a 500-credit reward and learn about a bounty hunter named Vail from Eleera. While a good relationship with Crimson Dawn will ease finding the Slicer, it’s not strictly needed. Players can see him even in poor standing and may resort to stealth to get to the restricted area. This becomes an attractive option for players who like this added challenge and stealth gameplay if they’ve already earned themselves a good relationship with the Pykes from the Underworld quest.
The Pyke Syndicate is the most beneficial faction to align early in the game. By siding with them, you can gain a reputation and access to their areas more easily. This is especially helpful during the beginning of the main story, as you’ll encounter them frequently. Building a good reputation with the Pyke Syndicate will allow you to explore their territories without hindrance, while a low reputation will force you to fight or sneak your way through.
