The first NPC you will meet when you start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is Needle Knight Leda. You will first meet her at Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum after defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood. But that isn’t where it stops, as you will continue to meet her throughout the DLC’s storyline. She will appear up to the very end, and will also influence the choices you make throughout the game. After unlocking Shadow Keep and finding Leda at Highroad Cross, you will see that she is distrustful of her companions; Thiollier and Hornsent. When presented with this choice from Leda, you might be confused on who to pick. You get a choice of either suggesting Thiollier the poison merchant, Hornsent, or neither for now. You should know that regardless of who you pick, Leda will go after Hornsent. If you choose Thiollier, Leda will not consider him a threat and will target Hornsent. If you suggest Hornsent from the start, she will go after him. If you wish to take your time and ponder over your decision, she will still go after Hornsent if you linger too long away from her questline.
To save Hornsent, talk to him before talking to Leda and he will tell you he is loyal to Miquella. But even that won’t stop Leda from targeting him. Rather, the only way to stop her is to summon Hornsent while inside the Messmer the Impaler boss fight in Shadow Keep. This can be tricky as his summoning sign is inside the boss arena. If you do manage to summon him, Leda will not go after him anymore and you don’t need to worry about losing Hornsent
