When you visit each gym the first time, you have to pass a certain test before you can go back to the gym and battle the trainers. The Cascarrafa Gym leader Kofu will pass you a test, where you have to win the Auction while bidding for Seaweed at the Auction House in Porto Marinada. Before you can battle the Water Gym Leader Kofu in Cascarrafa, you need to help his bid for Seaweed. Here we will see how to win the bidding Auction and get the Seaweed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Head over to the Water Gym in Cascarrafa and you will see a short cutscene where Kofu runs off in a hurry. One of the Gym Staff would try to catch up with him, but will not be able to. She would soon come up to you and ask you to give Kofu his wallet, which he forgot. Now make your way to Porto Marinada and find Kofu, but before you can hand him the wallet, Gym Trainer Hugo will stop you. You have to fight him to get to Kofu.

Hugo will have two 28 Level Pokémon, and they are Floatzel and Clauncher. They are both Water Pokémon, so you can use Grass or Electric-type Pokémon to take them down. You can use Luxray, Pawmi, Breloom, Gogoat, or Floragato to quickly get past Hugo. After that, talk to Kofu and return his wallet. He will then start the test, where he will hand over 50,000 Pokedollars to place the winning bid on the Seaweed.

To pass the test, don’t bid during the starting two bidding rounds. This will make the person in the middle drop out, and the person on the right side not have any more money to bid. Now select the 35,000 Pokedollars option during the last round to get the Seaweed. If done correctly, you will receive 15,000 Pokedollars as a reward, as well as a chance to fight Kofu. You will also unlock the Auction House option, where you can bid for other rare items.
