Overwatch 2 is the upcoming sequel of the 2016 team-based multiplayer shooter game Overwatch. Initially, the game was scheduled to be released in March 2022, but for some reason, the final version of the game has not been released yet. Blizzard Entertainment launched the multiplayer beta version of the game a week before and players are grinding through the beta version to understand what they can expect in the final version of the game.
The Ping system was not that popular before, but recently, all the first-person shooter games include the Ping mechanism. Overwatch 2 has maintained this tradition and added the feature in the game.
Overwatch 2 Ping Mechanism – How to Ping?
The Ping system is basically a beneficial system that allows players to communicate with players who don’t have a mic or are not from your team. By clicking on the button, you can send a quick message to alert your teammates as well as other players of enemies, dangers, or share information about valuable items, etc.
To use the ping system in Overwatch 2, follow the below steps-
- Click on the scroll-wheel of the mouse or press left on the D-pad of your controller.
- Do a quick press to set a marker on your target. It’ll even summon the enemies if you are targeting them.
- Hold down the ping button to bring up a small communication wheel with various messages written to communicate with teammates. For example: ‘Enemy,’ ‘Need Help,’ ‘Watching here,’ ‘Defending,’ etc.
- Click on the suitable one to leave the Ping.
If you ping an enemy, it’ll be with it as long as you see it. Once it goes out of your sight, the ping will be there to let other players know the enemy’s recent location. It is one of the smoothest mediums of sharing information with other players. The Ping system works pretty well in Overwatch 2, even in the Beta version.
