The long-awaited sequel to Overwatch is here, and with it bringing new gameplay, Heroes, and maps. So it is only natural that players will be queued up to join a lobby and start a game. But unfortunately, the Overwatch 2 servers are facing difficulties trying to retain the flood of players who are trying to play the game.
There are reports of players not moving an inch forward after several hours, and some players reported jumping a few players ahead, then getting stuck. Some even reported reaching the end of the queue, only to get stuck or having the queue reset and being pushed to the back of the line.
According to Mike Ybarra, the President of Blizzard Entertainment, there seems to be a DDoS attack on their servers, as mentioned in the tweet below.
There is currently no ETA on whether the issue will be fixed, so players would have to resort to other ways to beat the long queue times. Below are some tips you can try to see if you can bypass the Overwatch 2 queues.
- Check Server Status: If the servers are down, you won’t get to play the game. You can check the server status of Overwatch 2 by visiting the Blizzard website or checking the latest tweets for Overwatch 2.
- Change Region: Players have found a quick way to bypass the long wait times, and that is by changing the gameplay region. You can do this by going to the Overwatch 2 tab on Battle.net, clicking on the globe icon next to Overwatch 2 under the Game Version, and selecting the region. Currently, players are experiencing fewer queue times in the Asia region.
- Update Drivers: If your Windows and Graphic Card drivers are outdated, you have to update them to the latest version to play Overwatch 2.
- Check Connectivity: If your network is causing issues, you can try to restart or reset your router, change to a different network, or use a mobile hotspot or Ethernet cable.
- Repair Game: Scanning and repairing the game seems to help some players. You can do this by going to the Overwatch 2 tab and clicking on the up arrow beside the Play button at the bottom of the screen. Click on the Scan and Repair option to repair the game.
- Uninstall and Reinstall: You can try to reinstall Overwatch 2 and see if it helps bypass the long queues.
