Sir Isaac, known as the Scholar-Prince, is a challenging yet predictable enemy in Mortal Shell 2. As the fight goes on, his strikes become deadlier, especially when his shield is taken away. In this guide, you will learn where to find Sir Isaac, how to prepare for the battle against him, what moves you should watch out for, and the loot that you get once you defeat him.

Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince Location

Locate Sir Isaac beyond the Citadel Atrium Beacon in the Faded Citadel. Once in the area, proceed defeating the Scholar-Prince’s Servants until you find the Beacon. Then, head in that direction until you reach Sir Isaac.

The best shells for this fight are either Tiel or Lazlo. Tiel’s shadow dodge and shadow clone ability will help evade the boss more effectively if you prefer a stealth approach to the fight. Otherwise you can jump right in with Lazlo’s tankier approach to face the boss head on.

For weapons, go for the upgraded Black Needle, The Iconoclast, or the Great Martyr’s Blade. Sidearms like the crossbow or the Ballistazooka are also good for the fight. Equipping the right Tarstones like the Wounding Stone or Unyielding Stone for the primary weapon and Volatile Fragment for sidearms will help keep this fight easy.

First Phase

In the first phase of the fight against Sir Isaac, he seems to rely heavily on his basic swordsmanship, displaying little speed in his attacks. He tends to swing his sword two or three times before immediately taking a break to recharge.

At first, focus on blocking and performing Perfect Guards instead of launching a proper attack. Blocking can help you build Stagger, while a spinning shoulder strike can land a clean hit in situations where Sir Isaac is trying to escape.

Make good use of Tiel’s shadow clones to deal significant damage. Spawn them as often as you can and in case you lose some, you can still buy yourself time until you can spawn more by moving continuously around the arena.

You must attack every now and again to charge your attacks, but make sure not to do this too often, since it can break the flow of your defensive strategy.

Aerial Attack

When Sir Isaac is preparing to attack, the best way to evade is to dodge. With Tiel, you can activate the Shadow Dodge and instantly follow with an attack called Shadow Strike, as long as Tiel is in a position to be attacked.

Second Phase

After being staggered at around half health, Sir Isaac drops his shield and uses two additional swords. His attacks become more dangerous, as he swings the swords in quick succession.

Don’t try to attack during his combos. Wait until the sequence ends before moving in for a few hits, then retreat to a safe distance.

Watch for his red warning attack, which cannot be parried. He rushes forward with a forceful stab, so wait until he gets close and dodge to the side.

He can also follow you while repeatedly stabbing the ground. The attacks follow a rhythm, but the sixth strike is delayed, so avoid dodging too early.

At very low health, he performs another spinning sequence, swinging diagonally around five times before finishing with a rapid sixth strike. Dodge to the left with each attack while staying close to avoid it.

Final Strategy

The second phase is mostly about patience. Keep your distance, wait for Sir Isaac to finish his attacks, then move in and land a couple of hits before backing away.

You don’t need to fight aggressively. Let his attacks play out, use your defensive options and duplicates, and chip away at his health whenever an opening appears.
