In Dragon Quest 3 Remake, unlocking all the locked doors throughout the world is essential to progressing in the game, and for that, you’ll need to collect three special keys: the Thief’s Key, the Magic Key, and the Ultimate Key. In this guide, we will locate all the three keys in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
The Thief’s Key Location in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Thief’s Key can be found at the very top of Dreamer’s Tower. To reach it, head to the end of the tower and speak with the Old Man to get the key. To start your journey to Dreamer’s Tower, find a boy inside a building in the northern part of Reeve. The building is next to a pond, so it’s hard to miss. The boy will give you some information about the tower, which will update your quest log.
Head south to the Shrine of the Plains, where you’ll find a tunnel. While you’re there, be sure to grab a mini-medal. The tunnel will take you to Dreamer’s Tower. Once inside, climb the staircases all the way to the top to meet the Old Man and get the Thief’s Key.
The Magic Key Location in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Magic Key is hidden inside the Pyramid. While you’re in Asham, talking to the locals will give you a clue about the city of Ibis. From there, head southwest to the desert, then travel south through it until you find an Oasis. Ibis is nearby, and speaking to the people there will tell you more about the Pyramid’s location. Once you have the information, head north to find the Pyramid, though it might take some time. Be prepared, as the Pyramid is full of traps once you get there.
Make your way through the Pyramid, carefully navigating the floors to find the stairs that lead up. The Magic Key is on the third floor, but you’ll need to solve a quick puzzle to access it. Simply press two buttons on this floor – one on the bottom right and another on the bottom left. This will open the boss chamber. Defeat the boss to unlock the chest in the room and claim the Magic Key.
Ultimate Key Location in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The final key, the Ultimate Key, is hidden in Shallows Shrine. To get there, start by heading to Lanson and speaking with the locals, including a Slime. They’ll hint that you need to get a Bottomless Pot, which can be found in Edina. Before you head out, though, you’ll need to collect a Fading Jenny to grant you and your party the power of invisibility. Fortunately, you can buy this item from a vendor in Lanson. Once you’re all set, sail northwestern to reach Edina, and from there, continue your journey to Shallows Shrine.
Before entering Edina, use the Fading Jenny to sneak past the guard. Once inside, go down the staircase on the left to reach a puzzle room. This puzzle is quick and simple – just push the three boulders onto the corresponding pressure plates. Solving the puzzle will open the door ahead, where you can grab the Bottomless Pot. Next, head to Shallows Shrine. To get there, leave Edina, go north, then east, and finally head south between the eastern and western continents.
Eventually, you’ll come to a dead end blocked by rocks. Here, you can use the Bottomless Pot to clear the path and uncover the shrine. Enter the shrine and open the first chest in the room to find the Ultimate Key. With that, you’ve collected all three keys in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, which will allow you to unlock every locked door in the game.
