In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the Loyal Friends quest takes you on a journey filled with obstacles, puzzles, and fierce enemies. You’ll start by heading toward the quest marker, only to find yourself blocked by impassable walls and a tough Blight Boil. As you navigate the area, you’ll need to find an alternate route around the barriers and deal with several Blight Boils before you confront the Blighted Taymore. This guide will walk you through the steps to complete the Loyal Friends quest.
How to Start Loyal Friends Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Head towards the quest marker to reach the Shoreside Courtyard, where you’ll start the search for Taynore and Gus. Once you’re inside the new area, destroy the large Blight Boil to uncover a cove with a note from Oros. After that, take out the remaining Blight Boils.
To the right of this Blight Boil, you’ll notice a passage with a red glow. Inside, behind the open doors, is another Blight Boil. Turn around and head behind the large golden hands, where you’ll find two rocky steps.
Climb these to reach the stone the hand is holding, then cross over to the next Blight Boil. Here, you can aim at the Blight Boil on the wall near the doors to burst the next one. After that, jump down and go through the passage in front of you. Make sure to go around the door, not through it. You will find another large Blight Boil. Attack it to clear the path ahead.
How to Beat Blighted Taymore
When you enter this new area, you’ll discover that it’s too late, Taymore has already been Blighted. There’s no way to prevent this, even if you complete the quest right away; it’s part of the script, not a timed event. Taymore is a Darkspawn Emissary, so she’s vulnerable to Fire and resistant to Necrotic damage. She also summons a Hurlock that shares the same weaknesses and resistances.
Like all Emissaries, Taymore is a real pain to deal with. She casts Blighted vines across the cramped island, causing damage wherever you move. It’s best to attack from range early on to break her Barrier, since the longer the fight drags on, the harder it will be to stay in one spot and aim. Using abilities that can Burn her, trap her in place, or set up combos to Detonate will help keep her from moving around too much and make the fight less frustrating.
As for the Hurlock, use charged Heavy attacks to strip away its Armor, then follow up with Fire abilities. When its axe starts glowing yellow, you can deflect it to create an opening for a big damage boost. Once both enemies are defeated, go around the back of the large rock on the island to uncover that Gus isn’t actually a Veil Jumper. After the short cutscene, you’ll receive 500 XP, a Nug Carving, and 100 Veil Jumper Strength.
