Having helped Voyta out with some chores, Henry is finally able to explore a little deeper into his past—this time in Kuttenberg. That interaction triggers a new quest that introduces players to find a Dugout buried in the lower south portion of the map. The “Man Proposes” quest is in the Brushes with Death DLC, and it’s easy to miss that valuable trophy or achievement if you’re not careful in one of the targets. Here’s a walkthrough on how to do the quest, reforge the Madman’s Sword, and how you won’t miss that trophy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How to Get Curiosity Killed the Cat Achievement?

Completing the Quest

Once you’ve finished the “Stained Honour” quest in Kuttenberg City, go speak to Voyta regarding his past. He’ll point you in the direction of a dugout found northeast of Maleshov. After that, fast travel to the Maleshov or Danemark markers and horseback it out to the mission area. Once you get there, you’ll notice a man sitting outside the dugout.

Once you’re a bit closer, he won’t be terribly friendly—he’ll become hostile instead. To calm things down and start up the proper conversation, simply submit. Once things have cooled down, he’ll say something about Voyta’s passing and provide you with the broken Madman’s Sword. Your mission will shift, and you’ll need to search the dugout.

Forging the Sword

But then comes the missable achievement. Don’t examine the dugout yet. Exit the zone and travel to either Kuttenberg or Miskowitz—whichever is closer—to have the sword refurbished at a blacksmith.

To get the Madman’s Longsword back to fight-ready condition, you will need 3 Frankfurt Steel and 1 Fastening Material, which you can usually buy from the blacksmith who is standing next to the anvil. Finally, it’s time to get the forge hot: start hammering, but watch out—don’t hit in the same spot twice if you’re going to do it by the book.

Unlocking the Achievement

Upon reforging the Madman’s Sword, head back to the dugout and talk to the man again. Let him know that you’ve restored his damaged sword. He won’t be willing to accept it easily, so you’ll need to roll a Skill Check to convince him to receive it. Provided that you succeed and he accepts the sword back, you can now start your investigation.

Take a good look around the area: look in the area around the scarecrow by the anthill, then take a glance up at the rope noose that hangs from a branch. Then enter the dugout and take a look at the wolf’s heart lying on a plate. After examining all the clues, the quest objective will switch, and you’ll be told to report back to Voyta in Kuttenberg.

After the conversation with Voyta and the quest is completed, wait 2–3 game days and go back to the dugout one last time. When you arrive, you’ll see that the man has taken his own life, hanging from the same noose that caught your attention earlier. It’s a sombre conclusion, but this will get you the “Curiosity Killed the Cat” trophy or achievement. And don’t forget to plunder the chest in the dugout as you leave—there, you’ll find that the Madman’s Sword awaits you.
