God of Ragnarok is the ninth installment in the God of War Series and the sequel to the 2018 God of War. Players have been waiting for this game for a long time, and as soon as it is released, they have dived into it to become part of the journey of Kratos and Atreus. Unfortunately, this opportunity is exclusively for PlayStation players. PC players and other console players can’t enjoy this game.
Like every time, God of War Ragnarok has featured many collectibles, and Yggdrasil is among them. If you have got this collectible and become confused about its use in the game, this guide will help you with it.
Yggdrasil Seeds in God of War Ragnarok- What They Do?
Yggdrasil is the World Tree or Tree of Life in the game, which according to Norse mythology, is the center of the nine realms. All nine realms existed in the branches of Yggdrasil. God of War has changed the first travel method in this game, and Yggdrasil plays a significant role in traveling between realms.
If you have played the previous God of War games, you have the idea that Kratos and Atreus have the ability to travel between different realms. However, they had to go to the Brok’s Shop to travel to realms. God of War Ragnarok has changed this mechanics, and now, our two protagonists can travel from realm to realm using the Mystic Gates. However, to unlock the Realms, players need the Yggdrasil.
Yggdrasil can be found in multiple ways throughout the journey. The first Yggdrasil will be given to Kratos by Broke and Sindri. You have probably met these two characters previously in God of War, and God of War Ragnarok has brought them back. Kratos and Atreus will encounter them after the Prologue, and they give them the Yggdrasil Seed.
Using the first seed, you will go to the Svartalheim, and one of the first favors you receive there is to find two Yggdrasil Seeds to unlock the Firey Arena of Muspelheim. So it is pretty clear from here that, except for the first Yggdrasil Seed, players need to find the rest by themselves, and as long as they don’t find the corresponding seeds for the realms, they will be locked. As you find the correspondent seed for a realm, use it while approaching the Mystic Gate to travel to that realm.
That’s all you need to know about how to use Yggdrasil Seeds in God of War Ragnarok. Generally, every Yggdrasil Seed is required to open a realm, but if you get some extra, we recommend not to waste them. They may have some other uses later. As the game is still new, we are still exploring it. We will update the guide if we find other uses of Yggdrasil Seeds in God of War Ragnarok.
