If you’re trying to dig up hidden treasure or shape the land in Windrose, getting a shovel is something you’ll want to do early on. It’s not something the game hands you right away, so you’ll need to unlock and craft it yourself. The process might seem a bit confusing at first, but it’s easy once you know what to do. In this guide, we will show you how to get your shovel.
How To Unlock A Shovel
Start by heading to your Workbench near your Bonfire. Here, craft a Stone Pickaxe. Once you have the pickaxe, equip it and head to a nearby cave or mine. Mine as much copper as you can. Next, open your build menu and construct a Smelting Furnace. This lets you:
- Turn wood into charcoal
- Turn copper ore into copper ingots
Use the furnace to convert your copper ore into copper ingots. Now go back to your Workbench, open the crafting menu, and select the shovel. You’ll need:
- 3 Copper Ingots
- 10 Wood: Just grab your axe and chop down trees. You’ll find plenty around the island.
Craft it, and that’s it; you now have your shovel.
How to Use the Shovel
To use the shovel, first equip it, then switch to Dig mode when the option appears. Just press X to change to digging mode, and then click to start digging. The shovel isn’t just for digging; it has a few useful functions. You can dig with it, creating holes in the ground to uncover hidden treasure and items. You can raise or lift the ground slightly, useful for building or creating barriers. You can flatten or level the ground so you can place structures more easily. You can use it as a weapon, but it’s pretty weak.
