In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you will get a Pokedex where you can see which Shiny Pokemon you have collected and which ones you need. Shiny Pokemon are essentially miscolored Pokemons in the game, and they are much rarer than ordinary Pokemon. It is very difficult and time-consuming to get them all, which is why people have made a challenge out of it.
Soft resetting is about saving your game in a strategic manner. You need to save your game at a particular point and go back to the save point when something doesn’t work out. You will need to do this a lot if you are collecting Shiny Pokemon in case you fail to capture one on the first try.
The first thing you will need to do to set up soft reset in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to turn off autosaves. To do this, press X and click on Options to find the setting for Autosave. Click on it to turn it off.
Now, all you need to do when you go shiny hunting, is to save immediately when you spot a Shiny Pokemon. If you fail to catch it, shut the game down by force. Next time you open it, the game will reload on your save where you have just spotted the shiny. You can repeat this as many times as you like in order to catch the Pokemon, which beats the time taken to look for an entirely new spawn.
