However, when the game begins and you get your own pup Oatchi, surprisingly, you can’t ride it. Pup Oatchi is a new introduction in your Pikmin Squad, and it will help players to rescue their teammates.
If you have only landed on the alien planet and trying to ride Pup Oatchi, let me tell you, you can’t do it initially. To ride Oatchi, players must progress through the game and rescue the ship’s scientist, Russ. It will be around the third in-game day. When you start the game and meet Oatchi for the first time, you will eventually realize that Oatchi is way too small to carry you. So, you can’t ride him initially.
Once you rescue the resident scientist of the Ship, Oatchi will go through an overnight growth spurt, and then players can ride him and roam around the world to rescue other teammates. Once your Pup Oatchi grows fully, you only need to press the X button on your controller to ride him, and all your Pikmin will also hop on Oatchi. Press the Y button whenever you want Oatchi to jump.
