To unlock the Tent Kit recipe, you need to reach level 8 under Foraging skills. By now you should be way ahead of that, so you would already have the crafting recipe unlocked. 

How to Craft Tent Kit in Stardew Valley

You will require the following materials to craft the Tent Kit

  • 10x Hardwood – chop down Mahogany Trees and large logs
  • 25x Fiber – can be purchased from the desert trader or obtained from chopping weeds and harvesting Fiber Seeds
  • 1x Cloth – can be purchased from the desert trader or by passing wool through a loom

Once you are done crafting the Tent Kit, just hover over the item in your inventory to place it in a designated spot. The Tent Kit is a single use item, so once it is used up you cannot reuse it. Rather you have to craft a new one with the same materials mentioned above

Other ways to get Tent Kit for Free in Stardew Valley

You can scavenge the chests in the overworld to find free Tent Kits. There are two places where they can be discovered.

  • Make your way to Ginger Island and head into the jungles east of the island. You will find a box in the corner containing the tent kits
  • You can also get it as a reward for completing the Trout Derby Festival in first place.
