Salt is a valuable resource in Subnautica 2; however, it may be tricky to locate if you aren’t aware of where to search. You can easily find salt by using the Scanner Station, which shows you the salt deposits that are close to you. This guide will provide the locations you can search for salt, which direction to travel from the life pod, and how to locate multiple deposits underground.
Build the Scanner Station
To locate salt in the game, you’ll first need to construct a Scanner Station at your base. The blueprint should become available quite early on in the game. Once you have built it, you can then use it to locate salt deposits.
Salt deposits can be found at multiple locations that are slightly towards the southeast or east of your life pod. Once you have selected a scanner signal for one of these locations, take off in that direction to get to the area where the salt is located.
Head Southeast From the Life Pod
The salt deposits are found abundantly in the south-southeast of the life pod. The salt is located underground and there are several salt deposits located there on the ground.
When you reach the marked signal, enter the underground area and search around the area until you find the salt deposits. Remember that the scanner only provides you with an approximate location instead of the exact position; therefore, you will have to search around the area to find the resources.
Search the Underground Area
Salt can be found inside the underground section where you will find it lying on the surface in different locations throughout that area. After you find the first salt deposit, you can continue searching for more by using your Scanner Station until you find all the salt needed for your inventory. You will be able to keep using the Scanner Station repeatedly until you have acquired a sufficient amount of salt for crafting cured food.
