Livestock can help your settlement thrive, as they can be used for meat, leather, or as transportation. The only way you can get livestock right now is via the Trading Post. There is a separate Trading Post especially for livestock, so have that built in your settlement. Each animal costs separate Regional Wealth, which you can amass from taxes. Sometimes there is a limit to how many livestock you can import, so keep a tab on that as well. Next, you need areas to keep them, such as pens, farms/pastures, stable spaces, and hitching posts. Placing your livestock here will help keep them contained and can be used when needed. Your livestock can also reproduce, so keeping animals like sheep and chicken in contained spaces can help bring offsprings. You can let them grow into more livestock, thus multiplying them.
While importing livestock or growing them organically, you must ensure that there is enough housing and caretakers provided for them. If an animal is left unattended, then there is a risk of them running away, fetching you a loss.
