Healing Potions are an important resource to have on hand early in Gothic 1 Remake, but there aren’t many available in the beginning. But don’t worry, you get two free healing potions not long after starting the game. This guide will cover where to find a hidden chest with two healing potions behind a waterfall and how to safely reach that chest.
Follow the River to the Waterfall
At the beginning of the game, you can obtain two free Healing Potions by starting from the Old Camp gates with Thorus standing nearby, then turning around and using the same gate that you came through to exit from the Old Camp. Follow the same path you took with Diego at the start of the game and continue across the bridge following the river.
You may encounter multiple foes along this route and there will be enemies in the air too. Instead of fighting or stopping to kill them as you pass by; simply run past them. Once at the river, jump into the water, swim straight across the opposite bank. When hitting the shore, head straight for the waterfall you can see through the trees (beyond the river).
Enter the Hidden Cave
As you make your way towards the waterfall, be careful to evade any enemies that may be in your path. When you get to the waterfall, jump into the water, and swim behind the waterfall; a cave can be found behind it.
Once you enter the cave, go left of the entrance until you find a series of vases further inside. This is where you need to go.
Open the Chest for Free Supplies
You can find a chest with several useful early-game items located here. The items in this chest consist of two Healing Potions, lockpicks, and multiple spells. Since you can access this area immediately after beginning the game, you will be able to acquire valuable resources without completing any quests or defeating any enemies.
