In Grounded 2, survival depends on crafting, and one of the first things you’re tasked with making is a simple weapon—the Pebblet Spear. Although two of the necessary materials, Sprigs and Pebblets, are easily collected off the ground, Crude Rope is different. It needs to be crafted out of raw materials, and knowing how to harvest and craft it is essential to progressing in early game.
This tutorial outlines where to locate the supplies you’ll need and how to make Crude Rope so that you can construct your initial spear and explore more of Grounded 2.
Learning Crude Rope

Crude Rope is a refined resource that you’ll need frequently throughout your playthrough. It’s used not only in weapons like the Pebblet Spear but also in tools and gear upgrades later on. In the case of the spear, one Crude Rope is required alongside a Sprig and a Pebblet.
Unlike those other two pieces, you won’t find Crude Rope on the ground. Instead, it has to be made by combining Plant Fiber—one of the most ubiquitous materials in the game.
Where to Find Plant Fiber

To make a single Crude Rope, you will require three strands of Plant Fiber. Fortunately, Plant Fiber is abundant in the starting area. As you venture around the beginning area, take a close look at the ground and spot little green shoots bursting forth from the earth. These are your Plant Fibers.
You can gather them simply by walking over and interacting with them. They’re often found at the base of larger blades of grass or in shaded patches of earth, particularly near tree roots or rocks.
Collecting three Plant Fibers is all it takes to make one Crude Rope, so you’ll likely be able to craft several within just a few minutes of exploring.
Crafting Crude Rope

Once you have a sufficient amount of Plant Fiber, making Crude Rope is simple. The recipe is unlocked automatically once you scan Plant Fiber on the Resource Analyzer—something the tutorial will prompt you to do early on.
You can make Crude Rope in two general manners. The fastest is on the Handcrafting Wheel. On PC, click the Z key, or when playing with a controller, press Down on the D-pad. Go to the Refined Resources area, and you will see Crude Rope as something you can make, as long as you have sufficient Plant Fiber.
Or you can go into the main crafting menu, select the “Craft” tab, and look under Refined Resources for Crude Rope. Here you can craft a single rope or many if you have the necessary materials.
Where to Acquire Pebblets and Sprigs
In addition to Crude Rope, you’ll need one Sprig and one Pebblet to finish off the spear. Both of these can be found plentifully throughout the beginning area.
Sprigs are short, twiggy stems you can identify sprouting out of the ground or laying adjacent to clumps of grass.
Pebblets are little round rocks that tend to populate clear dirt groundings, especially at the beginning point. If you’re following a dirt trail or searching around rocks, you’ll nearly always see a handful.
By this point, you should have no difficulty having found enough Sprigs and Pebblets to make your spear.
Making the Pebblet Spear

With each of the three ingredients in hand—one Pebblet, one Sprig, and one Crude Rope—you can create your first weapon. Access the Handcrafting Wheel or the main crafting window and go to the Weapons tab. There, choose the Pebblet Spear and craft it to finish this stage of the tutorial.
This is your entry into the fighting system and will help you survive some of the dangers within the garden. It’s great for handling smaller threats and introduces basic combat mechanics.
